This is a national role and so will be supporting all of your contracts on a national scale. There will be a requirement to travel The Role • To ensure fire safety compliance across a portfolio of facilities, including high-risk nuclear sites, by implementing robust fire prevention strategies, conducting inspections, and supporting emergency preparedness. The Fire Officer will act as a key liaison between facilities management teams and nuclear regulatory bodies to uphold fire safety standards and mitigate risks. Main Responsibilities: Fire Safety Management • Develop and maintain fire safety policies and procedures in line with UK legislation and nuclear sector regulations., • Conduct fire risk assessments and ensure timely mitigation of identified risks., • Oversee fire detection and suppression systems, ensuring regular maintenance and compliance., • Lead fire drills and emergency evacuation exercises. Regulatory Compliance • Ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and nuclear-specific fire safety requirements., • Liaise with the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and other statutory bodies., • Maintain documentation and records to support inspections and audits. Facilities Support • Collaborate with facilities teams to integrate fire safety into planned preventative maintenance (PPM)., • Advise on fire safety aspects of building design, refurbishment, and construction projects., • Deliver fire safety training tailored to nuclear site protocols., • Promote a culture of fire safety awareness and continuous improvement. Main responsibilities • Reviewing and managing risk assessments, method statements and permits to work., • Evaluate and update existing health and safety procedures to align with new legislation or policy changes., • Provide guidance, support, technical information and assistance to subcontractors who work on our sites., • Collaborate with departments and the Head of Health and Safety to develop and implement effective, best-practice safety systems., • Supporting accident/incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of near misses and incidents to ensure safe working procedures are being followed in respect to company policy and UK legislation and regulations., • Perform regular site inspections/audits and prepare detailed reports for the Head of Health and Safety. Skills and Qualifications • Strong experience working in a Health and Safetyenvironment., • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise multiple demands., • Experience or an understanding of the electrical or solar PV sector would be of benefit, but is not essential., • Knowledge of UK health and safety standards and legislation., • Strong interpersonal and communication skills., • Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are a strong advantage., • Experience with ISO 45001 would be of benefit., • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment., • Proficiency in English.
