Trainee Positive Behaviour Mentor Required – School in Horsham An established independent specialist school in Horsham is seeking a committed and compassionate Positive Behaviour Mentor to join its dedicated team. The school provides a nurturing and therapeutic environment for children and young people, secondary aged, with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have experienced trauma, attachment difficulties or disrupted educational journeys. The Role • Support a range of vulnerable pupils from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4, helping them access learning and develop positive behaviour strategies, • De-escalate challenging situations calmly and appropriately, using restorative approaches, • Implement effective behaviour management and emotional regulation techniques, • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to build trust and engagement, • Provide regular feedback on pupil progress and wellbeing to staff and parents, • Full-time hours: 8.30am – 4.30pm, Monday to FridayThe Ideal Candidate, • Outgoing, patient and emotionally resilient, with a genuine desire to help young people overcome barriers, • Able to think on their feet and adapt to the needs of each pupil and situation, • Skilled in building rapport and maintaining professional boundaries, • Enthusiastic and proactive, with a positive attitude and strong teamwork skills, • Holds GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent Every member of staff plays a vital role in helping pupils build confidence, resilience and a sense of self-worth.
