Details • 71-bed Emergency Department operating at a very high acuity Level II, functioning as a Level I trauma center, • Patient population includes multi-system trauma (Level II), STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB/GYN, pediatrics, and psychiatric cases, • Patient ratios: 1:4 (ER), 1:5 (MS Holds), 1:3 (ICU Holds), • CNA support at a 1:12 ratio; unit also supported by a receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy (until 0300), IV/VAT team, and hospitalists, • EMR: Cerner; IV pumps: Plum 360; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Spacelabs, • Shift options: 7a–7p, 7p–7a, 11a–11p, or 3p–3a (12-hour shifts); 36 hours/week standard with 48-hour flex, • Weekend rotation required: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month on a block schedule, • No floating required, • No on-call responsibilities, • 4-week scheduling cycleRequirements, • Active AL or Compact RN license required, • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and Secure/CPI (nationally recognized/JACHO accepted), • First-time travelers must have at least 2 years of experience, Cerner or Epic EMR experience, and Level II Trauma or higher experience, • Experienced travelers must have at least 2 years of critical care experience (ICU, ER, or MS hold) with the most recent year in a Level II or higher ER; Cerner or Epic experience preferred, • Proficiency required in: trach care, vent care, ICU drip management, chest tube, arterial line, CVL, PICC, midline, port access, Foley catheter, splint/orthopedic device application and care, BiPAP/high-flow oxygen, and continuous bladder irrigation, • Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible, • Reference from a charge nurse or above from within the past 12 months required for consideration, • DOB (day and month) and full SSN required for consideration, • Copies of all certifications required for considerationAdditional Information, • Provides emergency nursing care across a wide range of high-acuity patient populations including trauma, cardiac, neurological, and psychiatric cases, • Orientation for travelers new to the facility includes 24 hours of classroom time followed by 24 hours on the unit; orientation for returning travelers who have been away for 1+ year follows the same structure, • Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy; scheduling for specific holiday dates is not guaranteed in either direction, • Blackout dates (RTO not approved) for 2026 include: 1/19–20, 2/13–16, all of March, 4/18–20, 5/10–12, 5/24–26, 6/14–16, 7/3–6, 8/30–9/1, 10/30–11/2, 11/26–30, and 12/21–1/1, • Up to 7 days of time off may be approved, excluding blackout dates, • Scrub color: any solid color, • Parking garage available on-site, • An interview is required as part of the hiring process, • Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided they meet the stated experience requirements American Traveler Job ID #P-717197.
