Job DescriptionJob Opportunity: Anesthesiologist Our organization is seeking a board-certified, full-time Anesthesiologist to become a vital part of our Anesthesia service team. Anesthesiologists are licensed medical professionals who deliver perioperative care, anesthesia, pain management, and critical care services. They operate within the boundaries of their privileges as sanctioned by the Medical Staff and the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff (ECMS). The successful candidate will function as a staff anesthesiologist at our medical center, providing specialized medical care. Candidates must hold Board Certification from the American Board of Anesthesia and possess extensive knowledge in the field. The primary responsibility of the attending anesthesiologist is to ensure optimal anesthesia care for our veteran patients, both in inpatient and outpatient settings, adhering to hospital policies and community standards. Key Responsibilities • Conduct pre-operative and pre-procedural anesthetic risk assessments, which include gathering patient history, performing physical examinations, and reviewing vital signs, lab results, and other diagnostic studies prior to surgery., • Document relevant findings in the patient's medical record., • Administer anesthesia and perform various procedures, including but not limited to:, • Peripheral IV placement, arterial catheter placement, central venous catheter placement, and the use of related invasive and non-invasive monitoring devices., • Engage in the Anesthesia pre-operative assessment clinic., • Oversee CRNAs in the delivery of anesthesia team care., • Provide patient care in various settings, including the Operating Room, PACU, Intensive Care Unit, Pain Clinic, IR suite, GI suite, and other necessary locations., • Participate in the on-call schedule during weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights, in line with other team members., • Maintain certifications in ACLS and BLS., • Offer clear information regarding the risks and benefits of anesthesia treatments and obtain informed consent from patients, legal guardians, or next of kin before proceeding., • Conduct face-to-face and e-consultations for both inpatient and outpatient cases as needed., • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals, treating everyone with respect and dignity., • Adhere to information security policies and procedures., • Deliver patient care that aligns with the cognitive, emotional, and developmental needs of individuals, demonstrating the necessary skills and knowledge for the Surgical and Anesthesia Service., • Exhibit understanding of age-related changes and disease processes to provide appropriate care based on these factors., • Utilize best practices and perform procedures at or above national statistical benchmarks., • Contribute to the education and training of nurses, technicians, medical students, residents, fellows, and medical staff as appropriate., • U.S. citizenship is preferred; non-U.S. citizens may also be considered., • A current, full, and unrestricted medical license to practice Anesthesiology in the U.S., • Retirement: Participate in the Federal Retirement Plan through the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS), which includes Social Security benefits, FERS-FRAE basic benefits (pension), and a Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) with up to 5% government matching contributions., • Eligible for the Education Debt Repayment Program (EDRP)., • Malpractice: Enjoy free liability protection with tail coverage., • Recruitment and relocation incentives may be available., • Paid Time Off: Receive 50-55 days of paid time off annually, including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and potentially 5 days for CME., • Insurance: Access to federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance (many plans can be carried into retirement)., • Licensure: Must hold one full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory., • CME: Possible reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year (must be full-time with board certification)., • Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and minimal restrictions on moonlighting.
