Job Description/Summary The Financial Aid Advisor provides comprehensive financial aid services to prospective students, current students, and families. This role ensures compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies while offering guidance on financial aid eligibility, funding options, and program requirements. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Financial Aid Advisor manages day-to-day operations and delivers exceptional service across departments. Financial Aid Advising • Counsel and advise students on financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, costs, billing processes, indebtedness, money management, and financial planning., • Determine student eligibility for Title IV aid and prepare student award packages., • Interpret and implement Federal Methodology, verification requirements, and institutional policies related to financial aid., • Provides exceptional service with compassion, clarity, and efficiency in helping students overcome any financial obstacles., • Participate in conferences, workshops, and training to maintain up-to-date knowledge of Title IV programs and compliance requirements., • Conduct quarterly outreach to students requiring action on document completion, loan acceptance, and funding options., • Provide backup support for the Financial Aid Office during staff absences, assisting with general inquiries and administrative tasks. General Administrative Support • Perform office and clerical duties, including filing, answering calls, emails, and meeting with students virtually and in person., • Maintain accurate records and reports for audits and compliance purposes., • Perform other financial aid duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the institution.Experience Required, • Experience in student services, financial aid, or related administrative field., • General office management experience (phones, filing, calendar management, administrative duties)., • Customer service experience, preferably within student services., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills., • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with student information systems (e.g., ADP, PowerFAIDS, and J1 systems). Education Requirements Minimum Education/Certifications High School Diploma/GED Preferred Education /Certifications Associate’s degree or higher, or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. Working Environment • Work is typically performed in an office setting with occasional events or meetings outside of standard office hours., • Activities require prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, and occasional walking to campus locations., • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 25 pounds., • Requires the ability to quickly shift priorities and resolve conflicts as they arise., • Regular communication is required to perform essential functions.
