Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Community Supervised Visitation Monitor provides structured, safe, and neutral supervision for parent-child visits ordered by the courts, attorneys, or child welfare agencies. This role ensures the physical and emotional safety of children while supporting positive interactions in approved community settings. The monitor observes, intervenes when necessary, documents visits, and maintains strict professional boundaries—without offering therapy, case management, or transportation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Safety & Observation • Maintain constant, line-of-sight supervision of children and parents during visits., • Assess and monitor risk throughout the visit, immediately reporting safety concerns to the supervisor and following agency protocols., • Ensure compliance with court-ordered restrictions (no third parties, no substances, no derogatory language, etc.)., • Conduct pre-visit safety checks (weapons, contraband, intoxication, emotional state)., • Redirect unsafe behavior using trauma-informed, neutral, and non-confrontational approaches., • Uphold zero-transportation policy—staff never transport clients in personal vehicles. 2. Documentation • Complete objective, detailed visit notes within 24 hours., • Document parent behavior, communication, interactions, emotional responses, and appropriateness of activities., • Track attendance, cancellations, safety issues, and environmental barriers., • Provide court-ready reports following agency templates. 3. Structure & Professionalism • Arrive early to secure a safe, appropriate meeting spot., • Facilitate transitions at the beginning and end of the visit., • Maintain neutrality—no coaching, advice, therapy, or personal opinions., • Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding concerns, patterns, and escalations. APPROVED COMMUNITY VISIT LOCATIONS – LAS VEGAS Visits must occur in public, well-lit, neutral, and child-friendly environments that allow for visibility and safety. Recommended Community Locations Parks (daytime only): • Town Square Children’s Park, • Centennial Hills Park, • Craig Ranch Regional Park, • Sunset Park, • Exploration Peak Park (public areas only) Indoor Child-Friendly Venues: • Downtown Summerlin (public seating areas), • Las Vegas Outlet Mall (South or North), • Las Vegas Natural History Museum lobby/common areas, • Springs Preserve (public areas; admission fees paid by parents), • Discovery Children’s Museum (if pre-approved and paid by parents) Food & Activity Locations (no private rooms): • McDonald’s Play Place (public seating only), • Panera Bread, Starbucks, Corner Bakery (public areas only), • Chuck E. Cheese (with high visibility seating), • Whitney Recreation Center / Cambridge Rec Center (lobby/common areas) Locations NOT Allowed • Homes or private residences, • Hotels or hotel rooms, • Private vehicles, • Isolated parks or secluded areas, • Any location requiring the monitor to drive clients SCHEDULE & EXPECTATIONS • Work includes evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on court-ordered schedules., • Sessions range from 1–4 hours, not including required pre-visit and post-visit tasks., • Must maintain communication through agency-approved apps, forms, or platforms. Required • High school diploma or equivalent, • Experience working with families, children, or at-risk populations, • Strong boundaries and crisis-management skills, • Ability to remain neutral and professional, • Clean criminal background check, • Coursework or degree in social work, psychology, early childhood, criminal justice, or related field, • Training in: trauma-informed care, domestic violence, child abuse reporting, substance abuse awareness, and conflict de-escalation Hourly Rate Parents are billed for: • Direct visitation supervision (hourly), • Arrival and transition time, • Visit preparation tasks (reviewing orders, safety checks, location setup), • Documentation time (paid in 15-minute increments), • Incident report writing if required, • Missed-visit fees (if applicable) Gas / Travel Reimbursement – Two Options to Choose From Option A — Fixed Travel Hour Add-On The agency will pay a 1-hour travel fee added to every community visit to cover: • Mileage, • Driving time, • Pre-visit location setup Option B — Flat Mileage Reimbursement Parents reimburse at a flat rate (e.g., $0.65 per mile) for: • Travel to and from the visit location KEY SAFETY PROTOCOLS • Maintain 100% visual supervision at all times., • Keep a professional distance and maintain exit-routing awareness., • Maintain communication with the supervisor before, during, and after visits., • Call 911 if a child is in immediate danger., • Never intervene physically unless absolutely necessary to prevent injury., • Ensure both parents never encounter each other during transitions (if court-ordered)., • Monitor must follow agency emergency protocols at all times. MANDATED REPORTING As a Community Supervised Visitation Monitor, the individual is required to: • Immediately report suspected abuse or neglect to CPS and agency leadership., • Document factual observations only. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Ability to stand or walk for 1–4 hours, • Ability to supervise in outdoor environments (heat, sun, wind), • Ability to quickly respond to safety concerns
