Job Description Electronics Test Technician III Job Description The Test Technician III performs advanced debug, test, and maintenance activities on complex electronic assemblies, working down to the component level using block diagrams and schematics. This role supports production by troubleshooting issues, maintaining test equipment, training test operators, and partnering closely with Test Engineers and leadership to drive continuous improvement. The position requires a seasoned electronics professional who can work with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, and contribute to high-reliability products across industries such as aerospace, defense, telecommunications, medical, and advanced computing. Responsibilities • Perform debug and test of electronic assemblies down to the component level using block diagrams, schematics, and test documentation., • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of test equipment and testers to ensure reliable and accurate operation., • Troubleshoot operator issues and test problems, identify root causes, and work with leadership to implement training and process improvements., • Provide hands-on training, coaching, and ongoing support to Test Operators to ensure proper use of equipment, adherence to procedures, and consistent quality., • Communicate test issues, product failures, and recurring problems clearly and promptly to Test Engineers and leadership., • Assist Test Engineers in performing experiments for failure analysis and root cause analysis on complex products and issues., • Recommend additional equipment, tools, and resources needed to improve product debug and test capabilities., • Participate actively in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement activities to enhance quality, throughput, and efficiency., • Comply with and follow all company security policies, procedures, and documentation requirements, including those related to sensitive and regulated work., • Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors, selecting appropriate methods and techniques to obtain solutions., • Build and maintain productive internal and external working relationships with peers, engineers, leadership, and customers as needed., • Produce engineer-quality work on complex products and issues, demonstrating a full understanding of the area of specialization., • Manage daily tasks with minimal instruction, seeking general guidance only on new or unfamiliar assignments., • Use hand tools, power tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment to assemble, disassemble, debug, and verify electronic assemblies., • Read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, drawings, electrical schematics, and acceptance test plans (ATP) to perform testing and debug activities., • Utilize ERP systems, ATP documentation, MAC address programming, and related systems as part of the test and production workflow., • Perform electronic and mechanical assembly and disassembly, including wiring, component assembly, PCB and electronic assembly, and soldering as required., • Document work performed, test results, and issues found with high attention to detail and accuracy., • Handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively, taking on additional responsibilities as required by production and engineering needs., • Demonstrate discretion, confidentiality, and independent judgment when working on sensitive products and information., • Support a 24/7 global business operation as required, providing flexibility in schedule and coverage when needed., • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support production, engineering, and continuous improvement goals. Essential Skills • 5+ years of electronics experience, including hands-on work with electronic assemblies and test equipment., • 8+ years of overall experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or lead-level role supporting test or electronics functions., • Proficiency in debugging electronic assemblies to the component level using block diagrams, schematics, and test documentation., • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting complex electronics issues and resolving a wide range of problems in creative ways., • Lead experience providing guidance, training, and support to test operators or technicians., • Strong computer skills, including use of productivity tools such as Microsoft Office and WebEx conferencing software., • Experience with ERP systems and familiarity with ATP (Acceptance Test Plans) and MAC address-related processes., • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, drawings, and electrical schematics accurately., • Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools for assembly and disassembly of electronic and mechanical components., • Proficiency with test and measurement equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes for debug and verification., • Basic understanding of test measurement and debug techniques applied to complex electronic products., • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting work, reporting issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams., • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups and all levels within the organization and with customers., • Effective multitasking, organization, and prioritization skills, with the ability to take on additional responsibilities as required., • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in testing, documentation, and analysis., • Ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance, exercising discretion, independent judgment, and professionalism., • Understanding of and ability to use continuous improvement tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies., • Strong customer service orientation and client focus, supporting high-reliability and mission-critical products., • Ability to support a 24/7 global business operation as required, including flexibility in working hours and coverage., • Proficient in reading electrical schematics and applying them to troubleshooting and debug activities. Additional Skills & Qualifications • 2-year Engineering or Technical degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by executive management., • Experience working on complex products in industries such as aerospace, defense, telecommunications, medical, advanced computing, or industrial electronics., • Experience participating in or leading continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen projects., • Comfort working on high-complexity products and issues, providing engineer-quality work output., • Experience with electronic assembly, mechanical assembly, wiring, component assembly, electronic assembly, and PCB assembly., • Soldering experience and familiarity with electronic assembly processes and standards., • Experience performing or supporting failure analysis and root cause analysis experiments with engineering teams., • Experience working in environments certified to standards such as AS9100 and other relevant quality certifications., • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality when working on sensitive or regulated projects., • Capability to obtain required clearances and comply with regulatory requirements for work on military and government projects. Work Environment This role is based in a clean, fast-paced manufacturing facility that supports advanced electronics production for highly regulated and mission-critical applications. Work typically involves primarily sitting with the flexibility to stand as needed, accommodating a comfortable mix of seated and standing tasks. The position follows a 4/10 schedule on 1st shift, working from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with the expectation of being open to additional work on Fridays as needed to support production demands. You will work with modern test and measurement equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and specialized test systems, as well as hand tools and power tools for assembly and disassembly tasks. The facility operates under rigorous quality standards, including AS9100 and other relevant certifications, and supports military and government projects that may require adherence to strict security and compliance protocols.
