Washington Community Service Center (BTWCSC) is one of the Bay Areas oldest Black-led, Black-serving nonprofit organizations with 106 years of service to San Francisco. A beacon of Black joy and self-determination, we have nurtured over five generations of Black San Franciscans. We stand embedded as an anchor institution, fostering intergenerational bonds and working in solidarity with allied communities to reform and reimagine a more inclusive San Francisco. We are one of the few urban spaces where anyone in the community can access comprehensive services, from a hot meal to childcare to academic support to senior services Summary: The BSAFE (Black Safety Access Freedom and Equity) Program purpose is to improve the holistic health and wellbeing of Black households by increasing access to health and social services, supporting spiritual and cultural activities that promote community building, strengthening social networks of support, and providing opportunities for healing as well as creating opportunities for early identification and interventions for families struggling to overcome trauma, depression, addiction, housing instability and other mental health problems. BTWCSC seeks a reliable, collaborative, and results-driven professionalBSAFE Associate Director to help our dynamic, multi-service organization meet its ambitious short-term and long-term operational targets while sustaining its growth. The BSAFE Associate Director will be under the supervision of the Director of Programs and Impact Director and will guide the strategic direction, clinical practice, and overall impact of BTWCSCs BSAFE Program by leading the BSAFE department and team. As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), this position provides clinical oversight, supervises a multidisciplinary team, and ensures services are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and aligned with community needs. The Associate Director also leads program planning, data-driven evaluation, compliance, and partnership development to strengthen service delivery, expand access, and advance BTWCSCs mission of holistic community wellness. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership and Program Direction • Provide strategic leadership for the BSAFE Program, guiding the development, implementation, and evaluation of services that address the holistic wellness needs of the community through an Afrocentric cultural lens., • Partner with BTWCSC leadership to set annual program goals, KPIs, and long-term priorities aligned with organizational mission, strategic plans, and grant deliverables., • Design and oversee new initiatives that respond to emerging community needs, support systems change, and advance equity and access in mental health, social services, and community wellness., • Lead cross-departmental collaboration with the Outreach team, Community Resiliency Department, and external partners to ensure integrated, coordinated services., • Serve as a thought leader in community wellness strategies and contribute to broader advocacy, systems change, and policy initiatives. Clinical Leadership and Oversight (LCSW) • Provide clinical oversight and supervision to licensed and unlicensed staff, including Case Coordinators, clinical interns, and service providers., • Ensure that all therapeutic services meet the highest standards of clinical care, adhere to trauma-informed and culturally responsive best practices, and comply with all relevant laws, licensing, and ethical standards., • Conduct regular clinical case reviews, support advanced care planning, and guide intervention strategies for complex client cases., • Oversee the One Door client intake process, assessment, and service planning processes, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards., • Lead crisis intervention efforts and support critical incident responses, providing direct clinical expertise as needed for intensive case management efforts, including our housing support efforts., • Establish and maintain protocols for referrals, linkages, and collaborations with external providers to expand access to mental health and social services. People Leadership and Team Development • Supervise, coach, and mentor BSAFE program staff, including program managers, case coordinators, and clinical team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and accountability., • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and performance management processes to build a strong, mission-driven team., • Develop and lead staff training initiatives that enhance clinical skills, cultural competency, and trauma-informed service delivery., • Support interdisciplinary collaboration by facilitating regular case conferences, care coordination meetings, and cross-team learning opportunities. Reporting, Compliance, and Quality Assurance • Lead program evaluation efforts, including the design and deployment of surveys, assessments, and outcome measures to track program effectiveness and impact., • Ensure timely, accurate, and complete reporting to funders, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports., • Partner with the Finance Team to oversee program budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability., • Maintain and enhance compliance infrastructure, including HIPAA, licensing, and grant-related requirements., • Utilize data insights to guide continuous program improvement, inform strategic decisions, and communicate outcomes to stakeholders. Partnerships, Advocacy, and Community Engagement • Cultivate and manage partnerships with mission-aligned organizations, health systems, educational institutions, and government agencies to expand service reach and capacity., • Represent BTWCSC and the BSAFE Program in coalitions, advocacy efforts, and policy discussions that advance community wellness, equity, and systemic change., • Serve as a visible ambassador for BSAFE in the community, presenting at conferences, public forums, and collaborative initiatives., • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills Required • Masters degree preferred in social work, public health, or a related field (LCSWor MSW required), • 6+ years of clinical social work experience in a supervised setting OR 5+ years experience in community health, direct service and/or intensive case management., • 3+ years of demonstrated experience leading, coaching and collaborating with a team., • Demonstrated knowledge of the mental health, social and cultural needs of underserved communities and the historical and contemporary impacts of racism and structural inequities., • Demonstrated experience with trauma-informed systems of care, and providing racially and culturally responsive services and programs for diverse populations., • Lived experience with Black/African American communities and/or communities of color and/or navigating housing insecurity and/or the justice system preferred., • Deep understanding of social and racial issues and committed to championing causes that serve low-income and communities of color; direct experience in working with vulnerable and diverse populations, • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, clients, volunteers, community stakeholders, funders and government agencies., • Demonstrates professionalism, socioemotional intelligence, and integrity., • Excellent verbal, writing, and comprehension skills., • Demonstrates strong project management skills and the keen ability to plan, implement, and execute., • Strong applicants must have the ability to be flexible and adaptive to change., • Strong experience in managing program budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability., • Ability to work with diversity and challenge, establishing and maintaining working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, funding source representatives, board members, and other service providers., • Google Suite, MS Excel and software proficiency required, • Acuity to detail is critical for this role. Physical Requirements Daily contact with clients, staff, community members, outside organizations and individuals to plan, coordinate and deliver programs. Must be able to move 35 pounds safely. Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift. Physical requirements are also typical of those needed in an office environment. Schedule Monday - Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, some nights and weekends. Additional hours may be required for program activities including, but not limited to, BTW staff events, evening and late-night duty, and staff meetings; a calendar will be provided.
