Immediate opening for a CMM Operator in Irwindale, CA who possesses: • 2+ years of hands-on inspection or CMM experience within industrial manufacturing, • Blueprint reading and GD&T experience, • AS9100 experience highly preferred, • PC-DMIS programming, editing, or troubleshooting experience preferred FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a CMM Operator to support dimensional inspection, mechanical validation, first article inspection, in-process inspection, final inspection, and quality documentation in a precision aerospace manufacturing environment. This temp-to-hire role is responsible for operating CMM equipment, utilizing PC-DMIS software, interpreting GD&T and blueprints, verifying product conformance, identifying non-conformances, and supporting dimensional issue resolution. The ideal candidate will have hands-on inspection and CMM experience, strong blueprint and GD&T knowledge, AS9100 familiarity, and the ability to work independently with strong attention to detail. The selected candidate will be responsible for: • Performing dimensional inspections using CMM equipment, • Utilizing PC-DMIS and other methods of mechanical validation, • Creating, modifying, editing, and troubleshooting PC-DMIS measurement programs as needed, • Reading and interpreting GD&T, blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation, • Verifying product conformance to engineering drawings, customer specifications, AS9100 quality requirements, and internal procedures, • Identifying non-conformances and communicating quality concerns, • Performing first article inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections, • Supporting first article inspections per customer specifications and AS9102 requirements as needed, • Generating detailed inspection reports, • Maintaining organized inspection records and quality documentation, • Supporting calibration and verification of measurement equipment as required, • Working cross-functionally with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve dimensional issues, • Assisting with root-cause problem solving when dimensional or process issues arise, • Performing approximately 20% CMM work and 80% inspection work, depending on business needs, • Supporting inspection of precision machined components in an aerospace manufacturing environment, • Using blueprint reading, GD&T, and dimensional inspection skills to complete secondary checks and verify tight tolerances, • Supporting growth into additional CMM programming responsibilities as needed, • Following all quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures, • Performing other duties as assigned The selected candidate will also possess: • 2+ years of hands-on inspection or CMM experience within industrial manufacturing required, • 3+ years of hands-on CMM operating experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, • Aerospace manufacturing experience strongly preferred, • Precision machining or fabricated metal environment experience preferred, • AS9100 experience highly preferred, • Automotive or other tight-tolerance manufacturing experience considered, • Blueprint reading experience required, • Strong GD&T experience required, • Ability to interpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5 preferred, • Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, and inspection plans required, • PC-DMIS experience preferred, • PC-DMIS programming, editing, or troubleshooting experience preferred, • Experience performing first article inspections required, • Experience with AS9102 preferred, • In-process inspection and final inspection experience preferred, • Basic CNC machining or metrology knowledge preferred, • Ability to verify product conformance and identify non-conformances, • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail, • Strong communication and documentation skills, • Ability to work in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing and inspection area, • Ability to work onsite in Irwindale, CA, • Ability to work first shift, Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, • Ability to support a temp-to-hire opportunity Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout manufacturing and inspection areas as needed, • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while reviewing inspection reports, CMM data, blueprints, specifications, inspection plans, and quality documentation, • Ability to use hands and fingers for CMM operation, inspection equipment, computer work, documentation, and standard quality inspection tasks, • Ability to frequently use inspection equipment and computer systems, • Ability to review GD&T, blueprints, engineering drawings, manufacturing documentation, customer specifications, and computer screens for extended periods, • Ability to visually inspect precision machined components and identify dimensional or quality concerns, • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move parts, tools, inspection equipment, materials, and standard manufacturing items as needed, • Ability to work in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing and inspection environment, • Ability to wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures, • Ability to maintain accuracy, focus, and attention to detail in a precision inspection environment Salary Range: $25 to $35/hour More information can be found at www.defensesearchusa.com. \nCompany Description Defense Search is a specialized recruiting and staffing firm dedicated exclusively to the defense & aerospace industry.
