Job Description About the Role Picture your day starting on the shop floor with a freshly issued work order. A CNC mill is throwing intermittent faults, and production is waiting. You trace the issue from the operator panel to the PLC, validate ladder logic, verify VFD parameters, and check a suspect sensor on the hydraulic circuit. By mid-morning, the machine is back in spec, aligned, and making good parts. After lunch, you draft a preliminary schematic for a controls upgrade, then coordinate with Operations and a fellow electrician to plan a weekend rebuild. Before you clock out, you order replacement parts, estimate labor for an upcoming retrofit, and help the team prep for snow removal if the forecast turns. Where You Fit • Department 506, • Reports to the Facilities Manager What You’ll Tackle, • Install, align, maintain, and repair a broad range of conventional and CNC manufacturing equipment., • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues, including PLC-controlled systems and CNC machinery., • Perform electrical work to the National Electrical Code (NEC): wiring, control panels, fixtures, motors, and circuitry., • Systematically troubleshoot electrical/electronic controls and draft preliminary electrical schematics for final design., • Lead or collaborate on multi-trade repair projects; partner closely with Operations., • Procure parts and supplies; scope and estimate materials and labor., • Assist with facility upkeep and projects: new equipment installs, repairs, cleaning, painting, and seasonal snow removal., • Follow company policies, procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing instructions. What You Bring, • Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude and problem-solving approach., • Comfort with VFDs and PLCs; proven experience with CNC equipment., • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic prints/schematics., • Skill in interpreting machine alarms to determine whether issues stem from programming, hardware, or operation., • Experience with PLC controls, ladder logic, microprocessor-based systems, motor controls, relays, breakers, and process controls (preferred)., • Valid Connecticut E2 license preferred; Associate degree/certification or relevant military background considered., • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment., • Ability to operate hoists, forklifts, and scissor lifts., • Fluent in written and spoken English. Physical Demands, • Safely lift 35 lbs., • Stand for extended periods., • Kneel, sit, or lie on the floor when needed to access equipment.
