Job Description Summary We are seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and creative Per Diem Piano/Music Teacher to join our early childhood education team! This flexible, part-time position is ideal for an experienced music educator who loves working with young children and can bring energy, imagination, and joy to music sessions. The instructor will lead engaging, age-appropriate music and movement activities primarily for our preschoolers (ages 3–5) twice weekly, while also designing musical experiences for infants and toddlers (6 months to 3 years) and facilitating fun, interactive music time with school-age children (ages 5–12) in our after-school program. A strong ability to play and teach piano is essential, as the role will include introducing basic piano skills, technique, and creative keyboard play to young learners. Duties • Plan and lead dynamic music and movement sessions for children ages 6 months to 5 years, with a focus on our preschoolers., • Teach introductory piano lessons in a developmentally appropriate and engaging way., • Incorporate sing-alongs, rhythm games, movement, and creative musical play using piano as the primary instrument., • Introduce children to foundational music concepts in a joyful, accessible manner., • Facilitate interactive music sessions with school-age children (ages 5–12) in our after-school program., • Collaborate with classroom staff to align music activities with seasonal themes or classroom topics., • Create a fun, inclusive environment that nurtures each child's love of music. Requirements • Proficient piano player with experience teaching piano to young children., • Background in music education, early childhood education, or related field preferred., • Prior experience working with children ages 6 months to 12 years in a musical setting., • Strong classroom management and child engagement skills., • Energetic, patient, and playful teaching style., • Flexible availability to work approximately two days per week., • Reliable and punctual with excellent communication skills. Job Description SUMMARY: Perform diversified duties to organize and conduct therapeutic recreation activities. Reports To: Coordinator, Therapeutic Recreation Titles Supervised: N/A Schedule: Per Diem - Therapeutic Recreation Music Therapist (TRD) Essential Responsibilities: 1. Organize and carryout appropriate group activities and one-to-one sessions to enhance sensory motor, cognitive and psychosocial skills., 2. Complete documentation of resident/patient assessment, progress notes, attendance MED A documentation, and discharge summaries in compliance with State and Federal regulations., 3. Input MDS/care plan data and attend RCP meetings., 4. Transport resident to and from scheduled activity area. Prepare activity area., 5. Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies and notify Coordinator of needs., 6. Drive JHE vehicles as required for outings; attend and participate in a variety of staff meetings. Maintain regular attendance., 7. The Music Therapist/TRD will exhibit leadership qualities, mentor residents, and engage them when participating in recreation programs. The Music Therapist/TRD will mentor Music Therapy interns., 8. The Music Therapist/TRD will demonstrate the ability to facilitate group process and will also be able to manage the interpersonal needs of the residents., 9. The Music Therapist/TRD will demonstrate the ability to assess and document the needs and progress of the residents., 10. The Music Therapist/TRD will participate on Resident community outings as required, demonstrating Resident safety., 11. The Music Therapist/TRD will maintain necessary credentials to provide Music Therapy to the Residents/Patients., 12. Other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelors Degree in Music Therapy Experience: No experience necessary Licensure: Valid driver's license. CT state Therapeutic Recreation Director (TRD) or Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist® (CTRS) Certification Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to handle multiple demands and deadlines; Ability to read and communicate effectively; Ability to utilize various software packages to carry out position responsibilities.
