Job Description Job Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes and systems to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency in production. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve existing processes, develop new manufacturing methods, and support the introduction of new products. The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: • Process Design & Improvement:, • Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements., • Design and develop new manufacturing processes and workflows to optimize production., • Conduct time studies and process evaluations to establish baseline performance metrics., • Project Management:, • Lead projects focused on process optimization, equipment upgrades, and new product introductions., • Collaborate with production teams to implement changes and ensure successful integration into existing operations., • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within scope., • Quality Assurance:, • Develop and implement quality control procedures and process documentation to ensure product quality., • Work closely with quality assurance teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions., • Conduct root cause analysis for manufacturing defects and develop strategies to prevent recurrence., • Technical Support:, • Provide technical support to production teams, addressing issues related to equipment, tooling, and processes., • Train operators and technicians on new processes, equipment, and quality standards., • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime., • Cost Reduction:, • Identify opportunities for cost savings through process improvements, waste reduction, and efficiency gains., • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and equipment that can enhance manufacturing capabilities and reduce costs., • Documentation & Reporting:, • Maintain accurate records of process changes, improvements, and performance metrics., • Prepare reports and presentations on project progress, process improvements, and performance outcomes for management review., • Education:, • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field., • Experience:, • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a related field, preferably in a [specific industry, e.g., automotive, aerospace, electronics]., • Experience with process design, optimization, and project management., • Skills:, • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement., • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and manufacturing software (e.g., ERP systems)., • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and quality improvement tools., • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent preferred., • Experience with automation and robotics in manufacturing processes., • Health, dental, and vision insurance, • 401(k) with company match, • Paid time off and holidays, • Opportunities for career advancement and trainingCompany DescriptionWestport Precision, founded in 1979, has grown from a small shop to one of New England’s largest precision sheet metal fabrication companies.
