Job Description Injection Tooling Subject Matter Expert (SME) Clinton Township, MI | Reports to Leadership | North America Scope Build. Lead. Transform. Quickparts is hiring an Injection Tooling Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as the technical authority for injection molding and tooling strategy. This is not a desk-only role. You will be deeply embedded in our operations — evaluating customer opportunities, applying DFM principles, and defining tooling approaches that align with Quickparts’ manufacturing capabilities to drive real change. You will own the technical development of accurate, competitive, and scalable tooling quotations, personally lead technical discussions, and be the driving force behind sound technical decision-making that supports successful execution, strong margins, and high customer satisfaction. As the Subject Matter Expert, you will: ✔ Lead the technical development of injection tooling quotations ✔ Serve as the primary technical resource for the Clinton Township facility ✔ Drive sound technical decision-making and risk mitigation strategies ✔ Partner cross-functionally to align design intent with commercial objectives ✔ Be the authority on mold design, tooling construction, and validation What You’ll Do • Lead the technical development of injection tooling quotations for internal manufacturing programs, including tooling strategy, cost drivers, and feasibility, • Review customer drawings, CAD data, specifications, and commercial requirements to assess manufacturability, • Provide DFM guidance and tooling recommendations to influence part design, cost, and lead time, • Identify technical and commercial risks early in the quoting process and recommend mitigation strategies, • Interface directly with customers to clarify technical requirements and align on design trade-offs, • Partner with Program Managers to ensure alignment between technical assumptions, pricing, and expectations, • Engage and collaborate with external suppliers to validate feasibility, obtain pricing, and select tooling partners, • Support internal manufacturing teams in resolving tooling challenges during launch, sampling, and early production, • Provide subject matter expertise on mold design, tooling construction, sampling, and production readiness, • Define and standardize best practices for tooling design reviews and quoting methodologies, • Maintain current knowledge of tooling technologies, supplier capabilities, and industry best practices, • Support related processes, including die casting, where technical overlap exists What We’re Looking For • Minimum of 5 years of experience in injection molding, tooling engineering, or related roles (8-10+ years preferred), • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred, • Deep understanding of injection molding tools, mold construction, and tooling design principles, • Strong knowledge of tooling cost drivers, lead times, and production feasibility, • Demonstrated experience in tooling quotation, DFM evaluation, and pre-production technical decision-making, • Ability to interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and customer specifications, • Track record of balancing technical optimization with commercial constraints, • Experience working with internal manufacturing teams and external suppliers, • Experience in die casting tooling and processes is considered a strong plus, • Confident leader with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment Why You’ll Love It Here • Real ownership — your work shapes the company, • High-growth, global organization, • Complex technical challenges, • Ability to leave a legacy system behind, • Strong culture of accountability and collaboration, • Flexible work environment, • Competitive compensation, • 401K Employer match, • Excellent health and wellness benefits, • Generous Paid Time Off - Recharge with ample PTO, including vacation days, sick leave, and holidays Celebrate Your Strengths!
