Job DescriptionSenior Digital Sculptor / Class A Modeler – Interior ComponentsGeneral Purpose of the Position The Senior Digital Sculptor / Class A Modeler – Interior Components is responsible for creating high‑quality three‑dimensional digital models for vehicle interior components and systems. This includes all human‑interface elements such as knobs, switches, buttons, screens, bezels, infotainment surfaces, center stacks, consoles, steering‑wheel controls, and other touchpoints the customer sees, touches, or interacts with inside the vehicle. This role develops production‑feasible Class A aesthetic surfaces that meet timing, quality, ergonomic, and manufacturability requirements, as directed by Sculpting Leadership for assigned programs. The position requires strong expertise in Creative Sculpting and Class A (A‑Surface) Modeling, and close collaboration with Design, Engineering, UX/HMI, and Manufacturing teams throughout the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP). The role also supports problem solving, interior architecture development, and mentoring others in efficient modeling methods, new technologies, and workflow best practices. Work involves significant creativity, technical judgment, and precision, and is performed independently or within a collaborative team environment. This groups owns the part from creation through Class-A Production. Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesInterior Digital Sculpting & Surface Development • Create new and refine existing interior component digital models using AliasStudio / Alias Automotive and related digital sculpting tools., • Develop high‑quality Class A / A‑Surface geometry for interior parts that directly interface with the customer, including controls, displays, trim, and functional touch surfaces., • Execute production‑intent Alias surfacing, including precise control of surface continuity (G2/G3), highlight flow, part splits, radii, shut‑lines, and tactile transitions., • Ensure interior surfaces meet aesthetic intent, ergonomic requirements, usability considerations, and manufacturing constraints., • Perform accurate and consistent evaluation of surface quality, highlight behavior, and visual/tactile precision for interior components.Program Execution & Cross‑Functional Collaboration, • Support surface development and releases throughout the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP), from early concept through production., • Deliver surface data that meets design approval, production engineering, tooling feasibility, and data release requirements., • Comprehend program timing, milestones, and interior model quality expectations across multiple vehicle programs., • Collaborate closely with:, • Interior Design, • UX/HMI and Interaction Design, • Engineering and Manufacturing teams, • Supplier and tooling partners, • Frequently assist studio and program teams in resolving design, ergonomic, packaging, and engineering challenges related to interior components., • Attend program and studio meetings as directed by Sculpting Leadership.Process, Standards & Data Management, • Integrate lessons learned, manufacturing feedback, and validation results into ongoing interior surface development., • Maintain compliance with corporate data management and communication systems (e.g., Teamcenter, SharePoint, timekeeping, email)., • Support continuous improvement by adopting new tools, workflows, and technologies relevant to interior digital sculpting.Required Qualifications, • 5+ years of professional automotive digital sculpting experience, involved in both Creative Sculpting and Production Sculpting, • Demonstrated expertise in Production Alias Sculpting and Class A (A‑Surface) Modeling for interior parts or similar., • Proven experience delivering production‑ready interior surfaces in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing organizations., • Strong understanding of interior design‑to‑production workflows, tactile quality, ergonomic requirements, and customer‑interface precision., • Ability to independently assess and validate surface quality at a high level of detail and accuracy., • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.Preferred Qualifications, • Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Design, Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or a related field (preferred but not required)., • Experience supporting multiple interior programs simultaneously in a studio environment., • Familiarity with interior packaging constraints, tooling considerations, and supplier integration. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
