Job DescriptionDescription: Job Summary The House Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Valley Teen Ranch’s Step Down Housing Facility serving justice-involved male youth referred by Fresno County Probation. This role ensures a safe, structured, trauma-informed residential environment while overseeing staff, youth routines, facility operations, and compliance with County and VTR standards. The House Manager functions as the on-site operational leader of the program — balancing youth supervision, staff leadership, safety, documentation, and coordination with Probation and internal VTR teams. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program & Facility Operations • Oversee daily residential operations including staff schedules, meals, chores, curfews, visitation, and house routines., • Ensure the facility remains clean, safe, organized, and compliant with all health, safety, and building codes., • Maintain key control, visitor logs, inventory tracking, and secure storage of youth belongings., • Implement and monitor house rules including curfews, substance-free policies, and behavior expectations., • Coordinate contracted services including landscaping, pest control, maintenance, and repairs., • Maintain a structured, supportive, and trauma-informed living environment., • Model appropriate behavior, boundaries, and leadership for youth., • Monitor youth participation in daily living activities including:, • Meal preparation, • Hygiene and laundry, • Chores and room upkeep, • Budgeting and grocery shopping, • Respond to behavioral incidents, crises, or safety concerns using de-escalation and trauma-informed practices., • Supervise and support direct care staff assigned to the residence., • Ensure staffing ratios are met:, • Two staff during daytime when two or more youth are present, • One staff overnight during curfew hours (10pm–6am), • Create and manage staff schedules and shift coverage., • Provide on-the-job coaching, training reinforcement, and performance feedback., • Work closely with case managers, social workers, and Probation Officers., • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case staffing., • Ensure youth attend required appointments, court, school, work, and services., • Monitor compliance with Individualized Transition Plans., • Ensure daily shift notes, incident reports, and program logs are completed accurately and on time., • Oversee tracking of inventory, purchases, and youth participation in daily living activities., • Contribute to monthly reports to Probation including youth progress, incidents, and facility operations., • Capacities to teach, supervise, and delegate in a clear manner., • Ability to work with a diverse group of personalities, makes reasonable accommodations, and provides positive direction for achieving optimal performance within the policies and procedures of the agency., • Administrative skills include being organized, good time management, planning and initiative., • Excellent problem prevention and problem-solving skills. Must be able to implement with confidence, especially while working with peers., • Availability for problem solving, crisis intervention and other issues, as needed., • Abide by the policies, procedures, guidelines, and boundaries of Valley Teen Ranch for the care of each resident., • Fulfill other periodic agency responsibilities which are assigned to management and not already part of this job description.Requirements: Required Qualifications Education & Experience • Master’s degree in criminal justice, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or Human Services and 3+ years of residential or community-based youth services experience; OR, • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience working with at-risk or justice-involved youth. Prior supervisory or program management experience required. OR, • 7+ years of relevant experience working with at-risk or justice-involved youth. Prior supervisory or program management experience required., • Strong leadership and ability to manage staff in a 24/7 residential environment, • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and youth behavior management, • Ability to work with justice-involved youth and Probation systems, • Excellent organization, documentation, and communication skills, • Cultural humility and ability to work with diverse populations, • Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive in high-stress situations, • Must undergo and pass thorough background check., • No child abuse record or allegation., • TB test and Health Screening, • Must maintain California Driver License and current automobile insurance throughout course of employment., • Have a safe DMV driving record and have reliable transportation., • Ability to work in a non-smoking atmosphere., • Ability to work as part of and lead a team and be able to perform required tasks with minimum amount of supervision., • Trauma-Informed Care, • Motivational Interviewing, • De-escalation & Crisis Intervention, • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, • Cultural Humility & Competency, • Mandated Reporter training, • First Aid/CPR, • Medication assistance and safety, • Transportation and emergency response procedures
