Who You Are You are a passionate educator dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders. At Cristo Rey Orlando High School, you will have the unique opportunity to guide students as a Leadership Skills Development teacher, planning and implementing a comprehensive program that equips them with essential leadership tools. Your course will focus on critical areas such as parliamentary procedure, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, group dynamics, time and stress management, public speaking, and team building. As someone who values fostering personal growth, you will help students develop self-awareness, goal setting, assertiveness, and the ability to navigate organizational theories and management practices. Your role will also support Cristo Rey Orlandos Work Study program by preparing students with the practical leadership and interpersonal skills they need to thrive in their professional experiences. Your commitment to nurturing these essential skills will empower students to lead with confidence both in and out of the classroom. This Role Cristo Rey Orlando High School is seeking a dedicated Leadership Skills Development teacher to join our innovative, dynamic, and mission-driven school that values both its faculty and students. In this role, you will plan and implement a comprehensive instructional program designed to equip students with essential leadership skills, covering areas such as problem-solving, decision-making, communication, public speaking, portfolio building, group dynamics, time and stress management, and team building. You will also focus on fostering students' self-understanding and growth by helping them develop goal setting, self-actualization, assertiveness, and a deeper understanding of organizational theories and management. As a member of the Cristo Rey Orlando High School faculty who will also collaborate with the Corporate Work Study Program, you will play a key role in facilitating student learning, continuously assessing their progress, and contributing to the ongoing development of the school's curriculum. You will supervise students, ensuring their safety and adherence to school policies, while actively participating in the holistic development of the schools program of studies. In this role, you will also support the school's Work Study program by preparing students with the practical leadership and interpersonal skills needed for their professional experiences. You will strive to teach and model the values of being men and women for others, interacting positively and caringly with students, offering both academic and personal guidance, and taking an active role in celebrating and upholding the faith-based identity of the school. Preference is given to candidates who are eager to engage with the school community by moderating clubs, coaching athletic teams, and serving as adult leaders on retreats. Your responsibilities include: • Develop Leadership Lessons: Create and deliver culturally relevant, hands-on lessons that cover key leadership skills, including communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and team building., • Curriculum Writing and Analysis: Regularly develop and update course materials, incorporating self-assessment, goal setting, and the study of organizational theories to foster student growth in leadership., • Practical Application: Integrate leadership training with the Cristo Rey Work Study program, helping students apply their skills in real-world professional environments., • Engaging Classroom Environment: Foster a dynamic and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and practical application of leadership skills., • High Academic and Personal Expectations: Maintain high standards for all students, providing the support and challenges necessary for them to excel in both their academic and leadership endeavors., • Family Engagement: Build strong partnerships with families to support student success through regular communication and collaboration., • Student Support: Offer regular office hours and be available for additional instruction and personalized support to help students overcome challenges in developing leadership skills., • Behavior Management: Establish trust and rapport with students, effectively managing classroom behavior to maintain a respectful and productive learning environment., • Professional Development: Commit to continuous growth as an educator by collaborating with colleagues, participating in professional development opportunities, and actively seeking and providing feedback., • Mission Commitment: Embrace and promote the school's mission to inspire and prepare students from underserved backgrounds to succeed in college and lead their communities as compassionate, committed, and competent individuals for the greater glory of God., • Pastoral Involvement: Actively participate in the school's spiritual life, demonstrating care and pastoral support for students., • School Community Participation: Engage fully in the school community by taking on supervision duties, participating in retreats and special events, and contributing to the July summer student program. Required Qualifications • You hold a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Leadership, or a related field, with a minimum of 12 credit hours in education preferred. A Masters Degree is a plus., • You have a Permanent Teacher Certification in your subject area., • You bring 3-5 years of teaching experience, with experience in teaching leadership skills or working in professional development being a strong advantage., • You have training in leadership education, organizational management, or working with students with special needsthis is preferred but not required., • You are able to pass a background screening., • Youre proficient in using technology in the classroom to enhance student learning., • Youre committed to consistent, on-time attendance for supervising and instructing students., • You appreciate and support the schools unique mission and are committed to the values of faith-based education., • You are dedicated to upholding the mission of the school as defined by the Cristo Rey Network Mission Effectiveness Standards., • You maintain professional attire daily, contributing to a respectful and serious learning environment., • Youre regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and climb stairs. You can operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment. Occasionally, you may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Preferred Experience and Skills • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive school culture that supports both teachers and students., • Extensive experience with different methodologies, including instructional strategies focused on student success, college readiness, and critical thinking skills., • Proven ability to develop and implement curriculum that aligns rigorous instruction and are well-prepared for leadership roles., • Ability to support at-risk students by developing individualized academic plans and working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure student success., • Proficient in educational technology, data analysis tools, and student performance tracking to assess growth and improve curriculum effectiveness., • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred to better engage with a diverse school community., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other relevant technology platforms essential for curriculum planning, communication, and data management.
