    Paralegal My client is seeking a Paralegal to provide organizational and practice specific assistance to attorneys in preparing cases from onset through post-trial. The person in this role will be expected to be physically present in the Firm’s New York or San Francisco office at least three or four days per week, with more on-site support required during pretrial and trial phases. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: 6 years of paralegal experience, litigation experience, trial experience Location: Oakland, California. For a law firm Responsibilities:  Facilitate and coordinate logistics during negotiations, arbitrations, trials, and settlement discussions; create trial and witness notebooks, identify and organize exhibits, coordinate witness schedules, maintain trial calendars, set up trial spaces, and travel for trial as needed.  Organize and prepare pleadings and discovery documents and support litigation by reviewing, finalizing, and compiling documents.  Assist and manage the discovery process, prepare for depositions, and prepare for expert discovery.  Speak with clients and potential clients to pursue investigations and facilitate case administration.  Assist in case investigations and development by conducting factual and legal research.  Draft, proofread, and format routine correspondence and litigation documents and conforming to applicable rules of federal court, state courts, administrative agencies, and arbitration forums.  Perform and oversee cite-checking, Shepardize case law, confirm case quotes, and proofread briefs and other legal documents.  Maintain electronic case files and manage large document discovery databases.  Interact and liaise with clients and vendors.  Train more junior members of the Litigation Operations team.  Assist with administrative tasks and ad hoc assignments for attorneys.  Proactively assume other duties as necessary. k Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a combination of employment, educational, and life experience that demonstrates the qualities and skills below:  Education and Experience: You have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal or case manager at a law firm. You have a strong familiarity with federal and state court litigation procedures and experience with trial technology (e.g., CaseMap, TextMap, Sanction). You have a proven track record of supporting attorneys in all aspects of litigation in a highly collaborative environment. Paralegal certification or equivalent preferred.  Leadership: You have experience building, mentoring, and developing a team and cultivating a respectful work environment. You lead by example.  Clear Communication and Attention to Detail: You express yourself clearly and concisely, always highlighting the most important information. You proactively communicate the status of your work and share updates with colleagues when necessary. You ensure that your work is mistake free.  Confidentiality: You must be able to adhere to Firm policies regarding the protection of confidential data and demonstrate sensitivity to (and good judgment in connection with) confidential attorney, personnel, and Firm matters.  Flexibility and Organization: You are versatile and able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities. You are comfortable in an environment where your responsibilities may vary from day to day. You demonstrate a “no job too big, no job too small” attitude, and take a collaborative, team-focused approach to rejuggling priorities and contributing to Firm tasks. You proactively anticipate, communicate, and work to independently resolve obstacles you encounter in your work. You possess a strong client- service orientation and ability to work well individually and as part of a team.  Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Supervise a team of Case Managers, • Provide regular, structured supervision meetings for direct reports, • Promote effective strategies for case management following Housing First, Harm Reduction, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), Motivational Interviewing and trauma-informed care models of practice, • Develop and implement individual service plans; ensure documentation of client contact and progress is comprehensive and timely, • Interview and assess potential clients, • Provide clinical direction and leadership to the program, help troubleshoot, problem solve, and strategize solutions around client engagement and challenging behaviors, • Promote a staff and resident culture that emphasizes housing placement as a measurement of success; ensure that clients are ready for housing placement, • Oversee development and implementation of individual service plans; ensure documentation of client contact and progress is comprehensive and timely, • Assess and evaluate client functioning, • Supervise and conduct case conferences, • Coordinate delivery of care with multiple service providers, particularly outreach teams., • Work collaboratively with outreach teams to ensure individuals succeed in transitional housing and avoid return to homelessness., • Provide support and guidance to front line staff in managing difficult situations and successfully de-escalating conflict, • Perform other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • NYS Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) required, • Minimum 3 years of experience with related populations; previous supervisory and administrative experience preferred, • Thorough clinical understanding of relevant service delivery concepts and structures including Housing First, client centered motivational interviewing, Harm Reduction models, behavioral and medical health systems, and the ability to access and negotiate the full range of services for recipients, • Experience with crisis intervention, including, risk assessments and incident management, • Ability to work successfully with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, • Demonstrated success in working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, • Ability to delegate and motivate staff to achieve deliverables, • Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with diverse populations and stakeholders, • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams; familiarity with Access-based databases and the ability to learn new programs are required, • Bilingual preferred

This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Deputy Director. Location and Hours We currently work on a hybrid schedule. The Development Associate will work three days per week (typically Tuesday-Thursday) in our office at 150 Varick Street, though this schedule may shift and evolve, particularly in the run-up to major events. Ability to attend events in the evening and some weekends is required. Note: OHNY Weekend is October 16-18, 2026. Salary and Benefits Salary is commensurate with experience, in the range of $64,000—$70,000.
