Job Description • Job Title: Database Administrator (Azure), • Base Salary: $110,000 based on skillset, experience and location, • Location: USA, • Work model: Hybrid - Seattle, WA or Green Bay, WI or Las Vegas, NV, • Travel Requirements: up to 10% As a Database Administrator, you will support the design, migration, and management of cloud-based database solutions to support Indigenous Pact's growing data infrastructure. This role is essential in transitioning from a third-party Azure-hosted database environment to an internally managed Azure ecosystem. You will be responsible for the performance, integrity, security, and availability of critical data systems while collaborating closely with developers, analysts, and IT leadership. This individual will ensure the organization's data environments are stable, optimized, and aligned with industry best practices in security and compliance, particularly within the context of healthcare and Tribal community data systems. Essential Job Functions: • Lead and execute the migration of database systems from a third-party Azure-hosted solution to an internally managed Azure SQL environment, • Design, implement and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing database systems within the Azure cloud platform, • Monitor database performance, conduct tuning and optimization and address bottlenecks proactively, • Develop and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity, • Implement and maintain database security protocols, user access controls, and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA), • Collaborate with software development teams to support application data needs and ensure database efficiency, • Create and maintain documentation for database systems, configurations, and procedures, • Participate in database capacity planning and forecasting for long-term scalability, • Support data warehousing, ETL pipelines, and analytics tools such as Azure Databricks to ensure timely data processing Required Skills/Abilities: • Proficiency with Microsoft Azure database services, including Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance, • Strong knowledge of SQL Server Administration, performance tuning, indexing strategies and T-SQL scripting, • Familiarity with database security best practices and compliance standards, healthcare preferred (E.g., HIPAA), • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues quickly and effectively, • Scripting experience using tools such as PowerShell or Python for automation, • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional technical and non-technical teams, • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required; equivalent work experience considered, • 5-7 years of professional experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on Azure-hosted environments, • Experience supporting large-scale database systems and critical infrastructure, • Hands-on experience with data warehousing concepts and ETL pipeline design and troubleshooting, • This position will require extended periods of sitting, typing, and working on a computer screen., • This is a remote position, with expected working hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm.
