Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Physical Therapist, • Discipline: Therapy, • Start Date: ASAP, • Duration: Ongoing, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, • Employment Type: Staff Location: Medical Center - Fort Worth Department: NICU Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Standard Weekly Hours: 36 Summary: The NICU physical therapist will deliver competent and skilled therapy services, which promote improved development, function, bonding, and wellness. This is achieved through developmental care rounds, screenings, evaluation, and/or treatment of the patients. The NICU physical therapist will implement therapeutic strategies appropriate to gestational age and matched to infant’s physiological, motor, and state regulation strengths and vulnerabilities; these may include positioning, skin to skin education, selective range of motion, soft tissue mobilizations, parent education and additional appropriate therapeutic modalities. Diagnoses treated include, but are not limited to prematurity, congenital anomalies, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, neurological disorders, congenital heart disease, cardiopulmonary disease or disorders, infants requiring ECMO, gastrointestinal disorders, general medical debilitation, fractures, musculoskeletal disorders or injuries, and soft tissue dysfunction. The physical therapist will deliver care with a team-orientation, an emphasis on good customer relations, sound clinical judgment and appropriate decision-making abilities that take into consideration evidenced based practice. NICU experience and Certified Neonatal Therapist preferred . Cook Children’s is a 106 bed, single patient room , Level IV NICU that cares for newborns and infants with complex and rare medical conditions.
