Job DescriptionDescription: Job Overview The banquet porter ensures a successful event by setting up rooms according the event details. They are expected to set-up, clean, and maintain meeting and banquet rooms by following the standards set by Crowne Plaza Lansing. Benefits and Discounts provided to company employees: • Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance, • Vacation time, • Vacation Enhancement, • Personal Day, • Paid Holidays, • Funeral/Bereavement Leave, • Pet Bereavement, • Footwear Reimbursement Policy, • $20,000 Life Insurance Policy, • Holiday Bonus, • Sick time, • Travel Benefits at IHG® Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, • Friends and Family Rate at the Crowne Plaza Lansing Duties and Responsibilities • Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction., • Set-up, clean, and maintain meeting and event spaces; including, but not limited to tables, chairs, risers, dance floors, lecterns, and audio-visual equipment., • Relay any problems or damaged areas to Banquet Management in a timely manner., • Help with AV questions as necessary., • Engage with guests and fellow colleagues using D.A.R.E. to Connect behaviors., • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations., • Ensure that all banquet equipment and storerooms are in proper operational condition and are cleaned on a regular basis., • Oversee and execute proper control and storage of meeting room supplies such as linens, pads, pens/pencils, table stands, etc., • Bus tables, refill water stations, and dish steward duties as necessary, • Must be detailed oriented and have organizational skills, • Must possess basic computational abilities, be able to use Windows and Outlook e-mail., • Problem-solving, and reasoning skills., • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays., • Communication skills, written or verbal, in the primary language(s) used in the workplace., • Basic reading, writing, and math, • Ability to navigate necessary software and applications., • Meet time standards to ensure efficient workflow., • Able to work independently and as part of a team., • Ability to perceive and detect uncleanliness, soiled surfaces, and stains., • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10 F) and kitchens (+110 F), possibly for 2 hours at a time., • Must be able to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length., • Frequently positions self to fulfill cleaning tasks., • Frequently requires grasping, reaching, and performing repetitive motions; manual dexterity., • Frequently requires lifting and transporting items weighing up to 75 pounds, and maneuver equipment weighing up to 200 pounds on a regular and continuing basis., • Position self to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, etc., • Must be able to maneuver between tables and in tight spaces., • Must be able to position self to fulfill cleaning tasks. Requirements: Qualifications and Requirements • Two years fine dining, catering, or banquet service preferred. Must be of legal age to serve alcohol., • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required., • Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing rules and regulations for the safe and effective operations of the Hotel’s facilities.
