Job Description Department: Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs Pay Range: $22 - $30 / Hourly Job Status: Seasonal (120 days or less); Days JOB SUMMARY The Roswell Visual Arts Center is seeking reliable, enthusiastic, and creative Visual Art Camp Instructors to support Art All Day, a full-day visual arts camp for children ages 6–12. This immersive program offers campers a structured, inspiring, and fun creative environment. Instructors will lead hands-on art lessons (for up to 10-12 students), supervise campers, and help foster a safe, inclusive, and joyful creative experience. Employee will provide assistance in the supervision and management of creative arts camps while working closely with the Supervisor in organizing and communicating with parents. Employee is also responsible for screening and handling a variety of routine inquiries in person. Employee must exercise independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in completing tasks. Employee must also exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the general public. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Art Instruction & Program Delivery • Be prepared to welcome students into the classroom at least 10 minutes prior to class, • Plan and lead age-appropriate, engaging visual art lessons in a variety of mediums, • Balance structured instruction with creative freedom, • Adapt lessons for different skill levels and learning styles, • Maintain clean, organized, and safe classroom environments, • Ability to exercise independent judgment, decisiveness, and creativity to resolve problems., • Supervise campers during art sessions and downtime, • Lead or support supervised play and outdoor activities when appropriate, • Ensure camper safety at all times, • Work collaboratively with fellow instructors and VAC staff, • Communicate clearly with camp leadership regarding supplies, schedules, and camper needs MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Required: • Experience working with children (camp, classroom, afterschool), • Background in visual arts or art education, • Strong communication and organizational skills, • Ability to manage groups of children in a structured setting, • Teaching artist or art education experience, • Familiarity with multiple art mediums Driver License preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • This job requires a high degree of human relations skills. Ability to motivate and lead participants in the field of Art., • Ability to learn, comprehend, and apply all city or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position., • Ability to read, review, prioritize, and analyze schedules and other documents., • Ability to operate, maneuver, and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions., • Ability to attend preplanning and pre-camp meetings., • Ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles to resolve problems., • Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations when needed., • Ability to learn, comprehend, and apply all city or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position. The work is moderately physical and may involve some lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light to medium weight (5-50 pounds). Tasks may involve standing on your feet for an extended period of time, demonstrating art techniques, and bending over to assist students with their projects. Tasks also require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Must be able to communicate orally.
