Job Description Dukunoo Jamaican Kitchen in Miami, FL is looking for one line cook to join our 85 person strong team. We are located on 316 Nw 24th St. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, ambitious, and reliable. Responsibilities • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies, • Chop vegetables, prepare sauces and other food preparation., • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff, • Clean up station and take care of leftover food, • Stock inventory Qualifications • Cooking experience or Back of the House experience preferred, • Able to meet all scheduling commitments, • Able to anticipate needs of others in the kitchen and proactively work to meet those needs Job description Position Summary You will be responsible for preparing a variety of foods and assisting the Executive Chef and or Chefs with their daily tasks. Line cooks will perform duties such as final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items. Line Cooks are also required to prepare food to the exact specifications and set up of stations for menu. Essential Functions • Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces, • Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies, • Able to coordinate food orders to ensure timely delivery to each table, • Must be able to follow the recipe and presentation guidelines, • Ensure all sanitation and safety guidelines are always followed, • Set up workstations with all required ingredients and equipment, • Ensure food is stored and cooked at the correct temperature by regulating the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, fryers, roasters, and other kitchen equipment., • Able to substitute for other cooks during emergencies or rush periods, • Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking, • Complies consistently with the restaurant’s standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, policies, and procedures, • Cook food items by grilling, frying, sauteing, and or by using other cooking methods to specified recipe standards, • Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock., • Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, • Able to prepare a variety of food and ensure safe use of all kitchen equipment, • Maintain a clean work environment while complying with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage., • Uses the Standard Recipe Card for preparing all products; does not rely on the memory of oneself or others., • Possess grill and/or sauté experience, • Must be flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays, • Enthusiastic team player with excellent motivation and people skills, • Work under pressure with a positive attitude, • Be willing to take a food safety class or have a current food handlers’ certificate, • Excellent problem solving and communication skills, • Accuracy and speed in executing tasks, • Familiar with industry best practices, • Follows directions and instructions, • Must be able to stand for extended periods and push or lift 20 pounds or more, • Excellent problem-solving skills · High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience · Must have at least 6 months experience in a fast-paced restaurant with a high volume Preferred qualifications: • Diploma, certificate, or degree in Culinary Arts · Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. · Oral Communication - Ability to communicate effectively with others in a respectful manner · Problem Solving - Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems. · Technical Aptitude - Ability to use a variety of kitchen appliances in a safe manner · Working Under Pressure - Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations Physical Demands: · Must be able to walk and or stand for extended period and push or lift 20 pounds or more.
