Job Description The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all back-of-house operations, ensuring food quality, maintaining cost controls, leading staff, and upholding health and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced bar environment Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development • Hire, train, schedule, and manage kitchen staff, • Foster a positive, accountable, team-oriented culture, • Lead by example during peak service hours, • Conduct performance evaluations and coaching Food Quality & Execution • Maintain consistent food presentation, taste, and portion control, • Develop and refine menu items in collaboration with ownership, • Ensure ticket times meet service standards, • Implement prep systems to support high-volume service Operations & Cost Control • Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships, • Monitor food cost percentages and minimize waste, • Create prep lists and pars, • Oversee kitchen scheduling to control labor costs Compliance & Safety • Ensure adherence to all local health codes and food safety regulations, • Maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment, • Oversee equipment maintenance and repairs Qualifications • 3+ years of kitchen management or lead cook experience, • Experience in bar, pub, or high-volume casual dining preferred, • Strong understanding of food cost controls and inventory management, • Ability to lead and motivate a team, • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards, • ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain)Company DescriptionThe Pool Turtle is a woman-owned and community-built bar and restaurant focused on activities, hobbies, and games.
