Job Description General Laborer – Concrete Construction Job Description This role supports concrete drilling and cutting operations on active construction sites in the Austin, TX area. You will travel from job site to job site, working closely with on-site crews to drill holes in concrete slabs and walls to create space for electrical, plumbing, and other building systems. The position offers hands-on training, with strong preference for candidates who have operated concrete core drills, wall saws, or hand saws, as well as those with heavy equipment or CDL driving experience. Responsibilities • Work on multiple construction job sites in the Austin, TX area, supporting concrete drilling and cutting operations., • Assist with drilling holes in concrete slabs and walls to create openings for electrical wiring, plumbing, and other utilities., • Learn and perform core drilling tasks under guidance, supporting the majority of the company’s core drilling projects., • Support wall saw operations, helping to cut and shape concrete structures according to project specifications., • Operate or assist in operating hand saws for concrete cutting, following all safety procedures and instructions., • Collaborate with experienced operators and laborers to complete daily tasks efficiently and safely., • Follow directions from site supervisors and trainers, demonstrating a willingness to learn new tools and techniques., • Perform general labor duties such as material handling, site cleanup, and basic tool and equipment maintenance., • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including summer heat and winter cold, while maintaining safety and productivity., • Maintain a strong safety mindset, using appropriate personal protective equipment and adhering to all safety protocols., • Support heavy equipment operations, such as excavators, dozers, and bobcats, if experienced and as assigned., • Assist CDL drivers with loading, unloading, and supporting service truck operations as needed., • Prepare for potential operation of service trucks after the initial training and contract period, once fully trained and converted to permanent employment., • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to ensure work is completed accurately and on time., • Demonstrate reliability by arriving on time, ready to work, and able to move between different job sites as required. Essential Skills • Experience working outdoors in demanding conditions, with openness to year-round outdoor work in both summer and winter., • Willingness to perform physical general labor tasks and learn concrete construction practices., • Strong preference for any experience with concrete drilling, including core drilling, wall saws, and hand saws., • Ability to work safely on active construction sites and follow safety procedures and instructions., • Good judgment and a strong work ethic, with a “good head on your shoulders” and willingness to learn., • Eligibility to work in the United States., • Ability to meet company hiring standards, including passing required screenings., • Reliable transportation to travel to various job sites in the Austin, TX area. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience as a core driller or hand saw operator in concrete construction is strongly preferred., • Experience operating wall saws for concrete cutting is highly valued., • Heavy equipment operator experience with excavators (small and large), dozers, and bobcats is beneficial., • Possession of a valid CDL Class A or Class B license is an asset for driving and supporting service truck operations., • Experience in concrete finishing or general concrete construction work is a plus., • Ability to work effectively as part of a crew, taking direction and contributing to team goals., • Interest in progressing into operating service trucks after an initial training and contract period of approximately 90 days. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
