American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Labor and Delivery, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 06/01/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Days, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Jun 1, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, 36 hours per week, • Labor & Delivery unit within a 228-bed Level IV Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Level III Perinatal Center designated as an Accreta Center of Excellence, • High-risk mothers and newborns, averaging approximately 280 deliveries per month, • Patient ratios: 1:1–2 for active labor, 1:3 for antepartum, following AWHONN staffing guidelines, • Clinical scope includes placenta accreta support, tubal ligation, cerclage, hysterectomies, C-section secondary nurse assist, vaginal delivery circulation, surgical recovery, newborn care, massive transfusions, pre-eclampsia, and COVID cases, • No primary nurse C-section circulation responsibilities, • Charting via Epic (experience required); equipment includes Alaris pumps, Pyxis, fetal monitoring systems, and epidural pumps, • Schedule is open availability 7 days a week; no block or patterned scheduling, • Every other weekend rotation required, • Every other holiday required based on start date, • Floating required to Postpartum and Women's Care Center (inpatient non-pregnant women); travelers float first, • No on-call requirement; low-census call-back may applyRequirements, • Active WI or Compact RN license currently in hand, • Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and FHM, • Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required, with most recent experience within the last year, • Level III Perinatal Care experience is mandatory — candidates without this experience will not be considered, • Proficiency in fetal monitoring, maternal assessments and interventions, high-risk newborn/postpartum care, cervical exams, OB triage, and L&D recovery, • Epic EMR experience required, • COVID vaccination required for employment eligibility, • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position, • At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year required for consideration, • Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligibleAdditional Information, • Teaching hospital environment with OB/GYN residents, family practice physicians, and certified nurse midwives on staff, • On-unit support includes a charge nurse, clinical resource nurse, phlebotomy (shared with RN), respiratory therapy, house supervisor, OB/GYN providers, and OB anesthesia available 24/7, • Orientation spans three days: day one includes nurse manager onboarding and unit training, day two is preceptor-led training, and day three transitions to an assigned work buddy with an independent patient assignment, • PPE fit-testing performed on-site; CAPR/PAPR available and single-use PPE provided, • Scrubs are provided by the facility, • Free designated parking available on-site With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
