American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Baudette, Minnesota. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 05/18/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, rotating, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Rotating, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: May 18, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Acute care setting with 9 Med/Surg beds and 3 ER patient bays, • Float position requiring RNs to rotate between Med/Surg and Emergency Department, • Patient population includes swing bed rehab, pain control, pneumonia, hypertensive crisis, bowel obstruction, and some cardiac cases, as well as critical and trauma patients, • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 with CNA support, • CNAs assist with hourly rounding, blood sugars, vital signs, and patient care, • Minimal staffing model: typically 2 licensed nurses and one CNA on the floor, • RNs are required to titrate drips including insulin, amiodarone, cardizem, and levophed, • RNs must read and document their own telemetry strips; Mindray monitors used, • RNs are expected to perform complete EKGs, • Respiratory equipment on unit includes BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and a Hamilton T1 ventilator; patients requiring escalated respiratory support are typically transported to a higher level of care, • 12-hour shifts rotating days and nights (6:45am–7:15pm and 6:45pm–7:15am), • Every 3rd weekend required (Friday night through Sunday night rotation), • Every 3rd holiday required; holiday schedule follows the permanent staff rotation, • MEDITECH EMR used, • Schedules are posted 4–6 weeks out by the manager, • On-call is voluntary for high census and may be assigned during low census periodsRequirements, • Active MN RN license (Standard or Compact) required; pending licenses not accepted, • Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC; pending certifications not accepted, • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, • Emergency Department experience required in order to float between Med/Surg and the ER, • Proficiency in admitting, discharging, and transferring patients, • Experience titrating IV drips and working with PICC lines and ports, • Ability to respond to and participate in codes (cardiorespiratory, stroke, sepsis) and trauma activations, • Ability to work independently with minimal staffing and communicate directly with hospitalists, • Driver's license required for consideration, • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehireAdditional Information, • Facility follows EMTALA regulations and utilizes flight transport for patient transfers, • Nursing is the only 24-hour department; ancillary departments are on-call on weekends and nights, • Orientation is typically one week but may be adjusted based on demonstrated skill level; ability to adapt quickly is essential, • No specific scrub color requirement, • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (permanent address as shown on driver's license) to qualify for travel rates With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
