Job DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION RN - MedSurg/Tele • About Facility:, • 874 Licensed beds, • Level I Trauma, • Teaching Hospital, • Chest Pain Center, • Stroke Center, • Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit, • Unit Information:, • Beds: 36, • Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years Med/Tele RN exp (Resource Team), • Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred but will consider (Resource Team), • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:, • Spinal surgery/Spinal fusion high acuity, • Stroke, • Seizure, • Myasthenia Gravis, • Brain tumors/lesions, • AMS, • Patient Ratios:, • RN: 1:4-6, based on acuity; (surge staffing could increase ratios up to 1:7-8), • CNA: varies, • Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:, • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, • Skills required:, • General Med/Tele skillset: Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc.), PCA pumps, • Medication gtt management to include: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF, • Support within the Department:, • CNA ratios vary, • Receptionist/HUC, • Charge nurse, 24/7 may or may not have patients, • Phlebotomy peripheral blood draws only, • IV/VAT Team, • Resource Nurse as available, • RT, 24/7, • Hospitalist, 24/7, • Intensivist, 24/7, • Telemetry monitoring/tech?
