Direct Support Professionals (DSP) are responsible for providing individually-focused compassionate care and assistance to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and/or mental health challenges. The DSP will also encourage growth towards independence in activities of daily living, socialization, community involvement, and support in expressing choices. The ideal candidate operates with a big heart, not only providing personalized and attentive care, but also building genuine relationships with those they serve. You are detail-oriented, creative and committed to creating a healthy environment that meets client needs. Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed to succeed in this role. Prior Direct Support or Home Health Aide experience is a plus. Responsibilities • Improve and respect the lives of individuals with physical, mental, and developmental disabilities, • Assist in the implementation of individual plans and behavioral plan goals, • Update individual case notes daily with feedback regarding the strengths, skills, and performance needs of individuals, • Help individuals develop appropriate social, behavioral, housekeeping, and daily life skills, • Assist with daily living activities, including preparing meals and assisting with personal hygiene, • Assist individuals in the pursuit of recreational, social, and community activities based on their preferences and individual goals, • Provide supervision and guidance for individuals during skill-building activities, • Assist and encourage individuals in the establishment of social networks, • Develop a rapport with individuals and cultivate a safe and supportive relationship, • High school diploma/GED required, • Valid drivers license, auto insurance, and acceptable motor vehicle record preferred, • Must pass Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check and drug test, • Possess or be able to acquire certification in First Aid and CPRSkills, • Compassionate about the care and well-being of others, • Tactful, patient, and understanding, • Computer literate, • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, • Critical thinking Similar Roles Interested candidates often have experience or interest in roles such as: Care Givers, Aides, CNA's, Home Health Aides, Mental Health Technicians, MHTs, Behavior Health Technicians, and BHTs Benefits/Perks • Flexible Scheduling, • Competitive Compensation, • Daily Pay Available, • Transportation Benefit, • Personal and professional fulfillment, positively impacting the lives of others Pay Range Up to $17 or more, depending on experience.
