Job Description SUMMARY The Systems Administrator is responsible for the health, maintenance, monitoring, and upgrading of all Windows server infrastructure and networking systems. This role provides Tier 3 technical support for servers, workstations, and network environments and partners with the Senior Systems Administrator to design, implement and maintain infrastructure solutions aligned with the organizational needs. The Systems Administrator assists in managing enterprise systems including VMware Environment, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, Veeam backup environments, and supports security and endpoint protection tools such as Cylance Anti-Virus. The role supports both on-premise and cloud-based systems, including Windows 2016, 2019, and 2022 environments. Familiarity with Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp administration is beneficial. The technology environment spans a 19-site LAN/WAN supporting both thin clients and Windows desktop systems, includingWyse and Citrix platforms used to access Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems in a clinical setting. The position plays a key role in ensuring reliable infrastructure and responsive support for staff across all sites. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Manage server administration and maintenance, including the hardware and applications such as MS Exchange / o365, Teams, MS SQL Server, SharePoint, Desktop Central Mange Engine suite, and Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop including the Citrix desktop environments., • Comprehensive understanding of intricacies involved with managing an Active Directory infrastructure including digital certificates (PKI), DHCP, DNS, GPO, and secure protocols including SSL/TLS., • Thorough experience with managing and administering Dell Apex storage systems supporting VMware Hosts and XenDesktop Instances., • Comprehensive knowledge of best practices concerning NTFS security permissions, group management, and applying security to Microsoft SharePoint pages., • Manage and monitor Anti-Virus servers and clients – must possess the ability to independently identify/ resolve issues., • Support and administer remote data center replication services and infrastructure., • Manage and administer network infrastructure including troubleshooting installation problems on Cisco, Dell, Meraki, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and routers., • Define and document best practices and support procedures., • Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments, and contingency plans., • Provide assistance with desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved promptly with limited disruption., • Coordinate with and facilitate affiliate consultants in their efforts to configure systems and resolve server configuration issues., • Continually install and deploy new software releases, system upgrades, and patches, and conduct software conversions and audits regularly using Desktop Central’s Manage Engine., • Work in tandem with other systems administration team members to patch all servers using Shavlik patch engine., • Previous experience physically working in a datacenter on core infrastructure equipment including file servers, storage systems, networking equipment, cabling, and cable management., • Responsible for advanced network printer setup and troubleshooting., • Provide an advanced level of support and troubleshooting for end-user issues as well as assist with first-level calls as needed., • Resolve software incompatibility problems and/or engage vendors as needed., • Strong Troubleshooting skills and must assume ownership of escalated and more complex Helpdesk tickets, resolve complex issues promptly and independently, and share solutions with the IT team., • Monitor, investigate and respond to alerts concerning infrastructure outages and alerts., • Assist and mentor PC Support Technicians and contractors as applicable., • Serve as backup for the network/phone system support., • Resolve 3rd party technical support issues., • Participate in and support the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion philosophy at PPNorCal. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE B.S. in Computer Science (or a related field), five or more years of experience in IT-related or Systems Administration (preferred) support roles in an enterprise environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to aid in storage capacity calculations and forecasting. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. COMPUTER SKILLS • Comprehensive experience managing infrastructures that include Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp, VMware, VMware VCenter, Active Directory, Group Policies, Windows 2019, 2022, and 2025 Server and Windows 10 / 11, Exchange 2019. Office 365 preferred., • Experience with TCP/IP and TCP/IP troubleshooting including Meraki and other switching, routing and secured wireless protocols, • Prior experience interfacing with Microsoft SQL 2008/2012/2016, Storage Systems (Dell Apex, PureSystems, etc.), and Meraki Firewalls., • Comprehensive experience with managing server infrastructures utilizing scripting utilities (Microsoft Powershell)., • Citrix certifications, Microsoft Certifications, and Meraki certifications are a plus. Ability to work independently and think critically and logically with minimal vendor interactions (i.e., strong troubleshooting skills) to resolve issues as they arise. PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION (PHI) ACCESS REQUIREMENT Access to PHI while assisting staff in using EHR/EPM system. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS • Must have reliable automobile transportation and a valid California Driver’s License and insurance. OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills (identify, research, and resolve technical problems), • Ability to communicate well with management, users, and vendors, both orally and in writing., • Excellent customer service skills., • Excellent understanding of a network riding on an SDWan backbone, with an offsite data center environment., • Working knowledge of network monitoring tools, such as IPMonitor, or other similar tools., • Ability to prioritize and multi-task, meet deadlines and meet the established Service Level Agreement for IT support., • Strongly motivated with good organizational skills and ability to work well with a diverse group of people., • Ability to travel to various PPNorCal facilities., • Prior experience in health care, preferably in a clinical setting preferred., • Commitment to quality healthcare., • Knowledge and comprehension of HIPAA and Information Security related processes necessary., • Active participation in the advancement of PPNorCal’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion commitment.
