Job Description Position Overview J&Y Law is seeking an experienced Elder Abuse Litigation Paralegal with strong Docketing and Calendaring experience to support our growing litigation team. This hybrid role is critical to ensuring the accurate management of case deadlines, discovery, court filings, and litigation workflow for complex elder abuse matters. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of California civil procedure, is highly organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced plaintiff-side environment. Key Responsibilities I. Litigation & Case Management • Manage a full caseload of elder abuse and personal injury litigation matters, • Draft and assist with:, • Interrogatories, • Requests for Production, • Requests for Admission, • Discovery responses and verifications, • Assist with:, • Pleadings, motions, and trial preparation, • Deposition preparation and coordination, • Trial binders and exhibit preparation, • Track discovery deadlines and litigation timelines, • Assist attorneys with case strategy and trial readiness, • Maintain accurate and organized case files II. Docketing & Calendaring (Core Function) • Maintain and manage master litigation calendars, • Accurately calendar:, • Court deadlines, • Discovery cutoffs, • Motion hearings, • Depositions, • Trial dates, • Calculate and track deadlines pursuant to:, • California Code of Civil Procedure, • Local court rules, • Judge-specific rules, • Ensure all statutory deadlines are met, • Proactively flag upcoming deadlines and conflicts, • Coordinate scheduling with attorneys, staff, courts, and vendors, • Maintain accurate calendaring within Litify or similar case management systems III. Client & Medical Coordination • Communicate with clients and family members professionally and compassionately, • Obtain, organize, and summarize medical records and billing, • Coordinate expert reviews and document requests, • Assist with damages documentation and liability support IV. Administrative & Case Systems Support • Maintain case files in Litify, Filevine, or equivalent, • Ensure accuracy of docket entries and litigation workflows, • Assist with e-filing and service of documents, • Support attorneys with case audits and deadline compliance Required Qualifications • 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience (elder abuse or PI strongly preferred), • Demonstrated experience with legal calendaring and docket management, • Strong knowledge of:, • California Rules of Civil Procedure, • Discovery deadlines, • Litigation workflow, • Experience using Litify, Filevine, or similar case management systems, • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, • Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously, • Strong written and verbal communication skills, • Reliable, proactive, and deadline-driven Preferred Qualifications • Elder Abuse & Dependent Adult Civil Protection Act experience, • Trial preparation experience, • Experience managing high-volume litigation caseloads, • Bilingual (Spanish) – preferred but not required Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) • Accuracy of calendaring and deadline compliance, • Timeliness of discovery responses, • Zero missed court or statutory deadlines, • Quality of case organization and documentation, • Responsiveness to attorneys and clients, • Efficiency in managing litigation workflow Compensation & Benefits • Competitive hourly compensation (based on experience), • Employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, • Paid time off and paid holidays, • 401(k) with employer match, • Long-term career growth opportunities, • Supportive and collaborative team environment Why Join J&Y Law J&Y Law is a plaintiff-focused firm committed to advocating for vulnerable populations and delivering exceptional legal representation.
