Job DescriptionDescription: Position Summary The Lead Clinical Care Assistant supports patient care in Medical Centers under the guidance of healthcare professionals. This role is held by a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant with experience in outpatient primary care or urgent care, specialized training, and certification in Peripheral Intravenous catheter (IV line) placement. They also possess an in-depth understanding of company policies and procedures, serving as a conduit between management and staff, while setting an example and mentoring other Clinical Care Assistants. This position may entail occasional night and weekend shifts. Essential Job Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Interview patients, record vital signs, and update patient charts., • Coordinate CCAs schedule, determine provider and duties assignments in collaboration with the manager., • Assist with patient flow as needed., • Provide direct patient care, including laboratory tests, under medical supervision., • Collect and process specimens., • Maintain a safe and clean environment., • Conduct EKGs, administer vaccines and medications (IM/SC/ID/Oral), and assist with procedures as directed by healthcare providers., • Perform lab work per physician orders and prepare equipment for sterilization., • Insert and prepare peripheral intravenous catheters (IV lines) and administer fluids as prescribed., • Adhere to Nursing Department policies and procedures., • Inspect and ensure the proper functioning of medical equipment and report safety concerns to the supervisor., • Maintain quality control records, such as glucometer readings, eyewash stations, refrigerator temperatures, and autoclave usage logs., • Function as an Epic Super User, facilitating training and addressing questions within the center.?, • Comply with Infection Control and OSHA Regulations for biomedical waste handling and disposal., • Handle confidential information with discretion., • Collaborate effectively with personnel from other departments., • Maintain a procedural logging system and input nursing procedures and data into the computer system., • Check medical records and follow up to obtain missing results before patient appointments., • Be available for weekend, holiday, and shift rotations as required by the company., • Oversee daily pre-visit planning and ensure that MA staff adhere to EPIC status changes., • Act as a communication liaison between the Medical Office Manager, Providers, and MA staff to enhance patient flow., • Ensure adequate supplies and forms are consistently stocked., • Assist in preparing clinical supply orders for the Office Manager and/or Nursing staff., • Monitor EPIC inbound messages and response buckets to ensure timely handling., • Keep track of available appointment slots, including cancellations, missed appointments, and no-show visits, working with the team to fill those slots., • Support Patient Engagement efforts in the center, including training and enforcing the use of the Patient Portal., • Assist with periodic training and re-training as scheduled by the Medical Office Manager and Nursing Staff. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to work standing up, walk, use hands to operate tools and equipment and must be able to exert regularly up to 10 pounds of force, frequently exert 30 pounds of force and occasionally exert 50 pounds of force to constantly perform the essential job functions. The employee will be frequently required to reach with hands and arms, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is subject to noise; there may be sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above ambient noise level. Required Education and Experience • High school diploma, GED or technical school graduation is required., • Completion of a medical assistant training program is required., • Minimum of two (2+) years of Medical Assistant experience.?, • Active Medical Assistant National Certification/Registration or equivalent licensure with superior skillset (e.g., EMT, Paramedic, LPN, etc.) required.?, • BLS/CPR certification required., • Ability to effectively communicate with patients and staff, • Peripheral Intravenous (IV) training and certification.?, • Proficiency in EPIC, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.?, • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills highly preferred.?, • Phlebotomy certification is a plus.?
