Job Description DEPARTMENT/PROJECT OVERVIEW The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego (BGCGSD or Clubs) CHANGES LIVES through quality programs and guidance in a safe, affordable and fun environment. POSITION OVERVIEW Reporting to the VP of Development and working closely with the Director of Major Gifts this multi-faceted role will help the BGCGSD in generating significant revenue. The Director of Individual Gifts is responsible for overseeing and executing all direct mail campaigns, reoccurring donor program, and our peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, Little Jumps Big Changes. The Director of Individual Gifts will create fundraising strategies to steward and cultivate current donors and develop a pipeline of new donors that have the capacity to give. Directly solicits gifts. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for gift entry and database management. FUNCTIONS WITH CORRESPONDING TASKS 1. INDIVIDUAL GIVING, DIRECT MAIL CAMPAIGNS, AND PEER-TO-PEER FUNDRAISING • Coordinate the development of solicitation strategy for key prospects and advance the internal planning needed to support those efforts, ensuring that each donor and prospect has a clear strategy and timeline for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship., • Manage and implement BGCGSD annual peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, Little Jumps Big Changes, ensuring annual goals are met This individual will be responsible for compiling donor information, creating compelling content to help secure donations, solidifying sponsorships, putting together proposals for donors, arranging revenue generating meetings, sending weekly correspondence to internal staff showcasing progress towards campaign goals, sending out campaign summaries, and thanking donors. This staff member is responsible for working with Branch Staff to ensure that they meet their individual fundraising goals. This includes training branch staff to execute a successful peer-to-peer fundraising campaign or support Branch staff to solicit gifts from the community. Additionally, this staff person will be responsible for soliciting gifts from Board Members, alumni and donors as well as setting up his/her own personal fundraising page to solicit donations., • Accountable for developing the summer mail and year end appeal campaigns. This includes: compiling donor solicitation information, campaign content creation, putting together proposals for donors, arranging meetings, sending correspondence, tracking progress towards goals, sending out campaign summaries, and thanking donors., • Responsible for securing and managing recurring donors and the inner circle program with the intent of growing the number of donors in the inner circle program., • Prepare background reports on donor giving and interest, proposing strategies for cultivation of the gift and develop proposals for donor consideration., • Ensure tracking and reporting processes are in place to effectively monitor periodic (i.e. monthly/quarterly) progress against goals and to identify corrective actions to address variances in performance against goals., • Serves as a member of the Development team and works with other development staff to develop a cohesive, coherent fund-raising program for the BGCGSD, leading by example., • Manage a personal portfolio of 25-30 active individuals and manage communications with portfolio through face-to-face cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship meetings, • Researches, identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, recognizes and stewards individual prospects and donors., • Prepares background reports on donor giving and interest, proposing strategies for cultivation of the gift and develop proposals for donor consideration., • Directly solicit individuals for gifts of up to $10,000 and work with Director of Major Gifts to solicit gifts of $10,000 or more, • Support the fundraising efforts of high-level volunteers, including the Board of Directors and leadership staff in securing new and renewed gifts., • Write and track all communications, including proposals for significant individual solicitations and contact reports following all meetings with donors and prospects., • Evaluate giving trends of individual donors and determine those with potential for upgrading to major gift status. 2. DATABASE MANAGEMENT & REPORT GENERATION • Responsible for day-to-day data entry and gift acknowledgment for the office., • Serve as development lead with CRM system Bloomerang., • Responsible for managing and generating the Development Team’s Weekly Reports., • Responsible for managing and generating quarterly Board Give/Get reports. 3. CULTIVATION AND STEWARDSHIP • Develops detailed cultivation, solicitation, and recognition strategies for each prospective donor within the context of a multi-year strategy targeted to achieve annual fundraising goals., • Work with the Director of Major Gifts to conceive of and execute a dynamic calendar of cultivation and stewardship events that engage donors and prospects in the organization’s mission and program., • Responsible for cultivating and managing ongoing relationships with current and prospective donors. Providing ongoing and timely donor recognition and appreciation., • Cultivate a caseload of 25-30 active individuals that give up to $10,000; execute strategies for solicitation of these prospects; develop and implement strategies for retention and continual engagement. Track ROI., • Develop and maintain quality relationships to establish a large, committed volunteer base that support the BGCGSD., • Solicit sponsorship and auction items in support of the Development team’s annual golf tournaments and gala., • Participate in networking and community activities which contribute to the acquisition and retention of individual donors., • Complete other duties as assigned. 4. SAFETY & WELLNESS • Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all youth, staff, volunteers, and visitors by consistently enforcing safety protocols and organizational policies., • Conduct regular safety inspections and promptly address any potential hazards or maintenance needs., • Participate in safety drills and contribute to ongoing risk assessment and emergency preparedness efforts., • Degree in marketing, sales, nonprofit management, communication, business, or related field; minimum 5 years of fundraising experience, including solicitation of individual gifts and campaign management at a nonprofit organization. (Required), • Experience with CRM systems and data management., • Proactive development leader with an established track record of increasing philanthropic revenue from diverse constituencies., • Proven success in fundraising strategies related to campaign goals and strategic design, and tactical implementation for campaigns. Knowledge of fundraising strategies for major and principal gifts., • Strong leadership skills; ability to lead, train, monitor and provide direction to working groups; ability to oversee and advise on work performed by sub-contractors, volunteers, and consultants., • Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills to converse diplomatically and effectively with volunteers, donors, and staff; innate ability to work steadily and calmly in high pressure situations., • Proven ability to work independently, to establish and revise priorities to meet shifting deadlines, and to prioritize and organize workload to meet multiple deadlines., • Experience in the development and implementation of a broad-based fundraising program including personally opening doors, cultivation and successfully closing major gifts., • Strong project management skills and demonstrated problem solving skills.
