Job DescriptionBackground: Forestdale (FD) is a NYC child welfare agency working to prevent child abuse/neglect through parenting, prevention, and foster care (FC) services, focusing on low-income and immigrant communities in Queens & Brooklyn. FD’s mission is “to ensure that children and families have the fundamental assets they need to thrive and live independently.” Job Summary: The principal objective of preventive care is to address family stressors after traumatic incidents related to the safety and well-being of the children in the home. In the Forestdale Strong Families: Preventive team, the CASAC is responsible for identifying and implementing strategies to identify and effectively work with parents who might be experiencing substance misuse issues. The CASAC primarily works with staff in the FT/R program to administer substance use assessment tools to evaluate and refer clients to appropriate substance use treatment resources. CASAC may also be required to administer testing, make referrals and to conduct groups for adults. The CASAC may also be required to provide assistance to the Family Support and Trauma Systems Therapy- Program as needed. Major Responsibilities/Activities: • Provide initial and on-going assessment to families with substance use concerns, • Provide outreach to families through office, home and video conference visits and other interventions to engage and/or facilitate referrals to treatment., • Make recommendations and/or referrals for services off-site when level of need merits intensive substance use treatment, • Follow-up with case planning staff to ensure that the current service provisions are appropriate and that family is participating, • Arrange/provide counseling to family members, as needed, • Identify, develop and maintain treatment and aftercare for clients with substance use concerns to linkages and other community resources to maximize the utilization of available services, • Conduct appropriate groups, including but not limited to relapse prevention, • Maintain relevant case documentation, including entering contacts in Connections and PROMIS, and manage spreadsheets of toxicology screening referrals and results., • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings such as: the Clinical Diagnostic Team (CDT) Meetings and Family Team Conferences (FTC) and other conferences as determined by the program needs and review preventive referrals as it relates to case openings, closings and demographic changes., • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health or a related credential from an accredited college or university preferred., • CASAC or CASAC-T, • At least 2 years of experience; some clinical experience required, • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills Masters: $65,000 to $73,000 Masters / Language: $67,000 to $75,000 Masters / License: $70,000 to $78,000 Masters / License / Language: $72,000 to $80,000 Join the Forestdale Team and Enjoy Excellent Benefits: • Four weeks’ vacation, • Medical/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, • 401(k), 7% employer contribution + 2% match, • Tax-deferred health care/dependent care/commuter plans, • Flexible Schedule, • Opportunities for educational scholarships IMPORTANT NOTE: All employees, volunteers and interns must show proof of vaccination upon hire.
