Aerospace Engineering Group (AERO) provides an integrated, end-to-end capability for the rapid modification and fielding of mission-specific aircraft. The Airborne Asset Adaptation (A3) Cell acts as the central command and coordination hub, managing requirements and external interfaces from inception to operational delivery. Specialized technical execution is delivered by the Aircraft Integration Centre (AIC), a Part 145 facility focused on airframe modification, and Aerospace Design (ASD), which provides organic design engineering and FAA-authorized certification. Collectively, these elements bridge the gap between initial requirements and the deployment of flight-certified, mission-ready assets. Position Summary MAIC is seeking an experienced and highly capable Aircraft Modification & Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance, production prototyping, fabrication, and aircraft modification activities within our Part 21 focused FAA Part 145 Repair Station. The Aircraft Modification & Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety, airworthiness, regulatory compliance, and production quality across all aircraft integration, maintenance, fabrication, and component-level work performed at MAIC. This position is central to MAIC’s mission of delivering world‑class modification, integration, and sustainment solutions. What You’ll Do This role oversees multidisciplinary technical teams, develops and executes aircraft integration and maintenance programs, manages Repair Station personnel and capabilities, and collaborates closely with engineering and A3 stakeholders to deliver high-quality, on-schedule outcomes by: • Ensure full compliance with 14 CFR Part 145, Part 21, Repair Station and Quality Control Manuals, OpSpecs, and all applicable FAA regulations., • Oversee maintenance records, logs, inspection reports, fabrication traveler documentation, and configuration management., • Ensure proper use and control of tooling, equipment, processes, and calibrated assets., • Lead all aircraft maintenance and integration activities, including modification, fabrication, prototyping, and return-to-service., • Partner closely with engineering on work instructions, design data, and technical packages for Part 21 prototyping and production work., • Oversee production scheduling/planning, workflow development, staffing plans, and resource allocation to ensure on-time delivery., • Ability to read and interpret design packages of varying maturity levels and derive work sequencing and budgets from them to support planning efforts., • Approve work orders, airworthiness releases, and RTS documentation per authorized privileges., • Manage, mentor, and develop technicians, inspectors, leads, and supervisors across sheet‑metal, structures, avionics, systems, and fabrication disciplines., • Ensure training, currency, and qualifications for all maintenance personnel., • Cultivate a safety-first, quality-focused culture aligned with MAIC standards and values., • Drive root-cause analysis, risk assessments, quality improvements, and operational enhancements., • Support the buildout and operationalization of PKAF (Prototyping, Kitting & Assembly Facility) and other capability expansions., • Coordinate closely with A3 Program Management, MASD Engineering, Supply Chain & Logistics, as well as other adjacent Metrea organizations to support modification programs, MRO work, and Part 21 efforts., • Assist in developing capability roadmaps, capital equipment requirements, and new processes to scale advanced fabrication and integration capabilities., • Minimum 8–10 years of aircraft maintenance leadership experience, including supervisory or management roles., • Extensive experience within an FAA Part 145 Repair Station environment., • Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 21, including design, fabrication, prototyping, and conformity processes., • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate required; Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred., • Strong understanding of structural modification, avionics integration, and component-level fabrication., • Demonstrated experience managing multi-disciplinary technical teams., • Proven track record of interfacing with the FAA and managing regulatory audits., • Demonstrable experience with standard enterprise IT utilities Additional Eligibility Qualifications • Prior experience in aircraft modification, military integration programs, or special mission aircraft., • Experience standing up or significantly scaling new production capabilities., • Familiarity with ISO9001, AS9100, or similar quality systems., • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
