Job DescriptionDescription: OUR MISSION Wellness Equity Alliance (WEA) is a novel national public health organization comprised of a multidisciplinary team of population and public health experts with backgrounds in infectious disease, public health, emergency medicine, primary care, cardiology, pediatrics, psychiatry, community health work (CHW), nursing and advanced practice pharmacy. We work nearly exclusively with underrepresented communities, fundamentally addressing healthcare disparities and the social determinants of health (SDoH) that have been amplified during the COVID-19 pandemic, prioritizing the following: • People experiencing homelessness, • Indigenous communities, • Immigrant communities, • Rural communities, • BIPOC communities, • LGBTQIA+ communities Wellness Equity Alliance (WEA) is actively seeking compassionate and driven individuals for several pivotal roles in our groundbreaking School-Based Health Center (SBHC) program for Bernalillo County, New Mexico. Our approach will focus on health promotion, prevention, and treatment centered on behavioral health and primary care (including sexual health and gender-affirming care) located in large mobile units (including a brick-and-mortar clinic) in schools across the county. Position Summary The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, security, and management of all technology systems supporting the organization’s clinical, administrative, and operational functions. This role ensures that IT infrastructure, electronic health records (EHR), cybersecurity, and data systems are reliable, compliant, and aligned with the organization’s mission of delivering high-quality patient care. The IT Director will lead IT staff and vendors, oversee system upgrades, ensure HIPAA compliance, and partner with executive leadership to support growth and innovation across the medical organization. Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership • Develop and execute the organization’s IT strategy in alignment with clinical and business goals., • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on technology investments, risks, and opportunities., • Lead IT planning for organizational growth, new services, and regulatory requirements.Infrastructure & Systems Management, • Oversee all IT systems including networks, servers, cloud services, hardware, and software., • Ensure high availability and performance of clinical and administrative systems., • Manage disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity plans.EHR & Clinical Systems, • Oversee implementation, optimization, and maintenance of EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Athena, NextGen, eClinicalWorks, etc.)., • Partner with clinical leadership to improve workflows, data accuracy, and user experience., • Manage interfaces between EHR, billing, labs, pharmacies, and other third-party systems.Cybersecurity & Compliance, • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare regulatory requirements., • Establish and enforce cybersecurity policies, risk assessments, and incident response protocols., • Monitor system security, access controls, and data privacy protections.Vendor & Budget Management, • Manage IT budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships., • Negotiate service agreements and evaluate third-party technology solutions., • Ensure cost-effective use of technology resources.Team Leadership & Support, • Lead, mentor, and develop IT staff and contractors., • Establish help desk standards and service level expectations., • Ensure timely resolution of IT issues impacting patient care and operations.Data & Reporting, • Oversee data integrity, reporting tools, and analytics systems., • Support leadership with dashboards and data insights for operational and clinical decision-making.Requirements:Required Qualifications, • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field (Master’s preferred)., • 7+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership or management roles., • Experience working in a healthcare or medical environment., • Strong knowledge of EHR systems, HIPAA compliance, and healthcare IT operations., • Proven experience managing IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and vendor relationships.Preferred Qualifications, • Master’s degree in IT, Healthcare Administration, or related field., • Healthcare IT certifications (e.g., CHCIO, CISSP, CISM, PMP)., • Experience supporting multi-site medical organizations or FQHCs., • Experience with cloud-based systems and telehealth platforms.Key Competencies, • Strategic thinking and problem solving, • Strong leadership and communication skills, • High attention to detail and compliance, • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment, • Commitment to patient privacy, security, and quality careWorking Conditions, • May require occasional after-hours or on-call support for critical system issues., • Minimal travel between clinic sites, if applicable.
