Role Description This is a 1 year contract, full-time, on-site role based in Los Angeles, CA. Job Description We are seeking two (2) Biomedical Equipment Technician II (BMET II) professionals to support the assessment, implementation, maintenance, and sustainment of medical equipment within a VA healthcare environment. This role is responsible for ensuring medical devices and systems are safe, reliable, compliant, and fully operational to support clinical care. The Biomedical Technician II will perform work across the full equipment lifecycle, including new equipment implementation, planned and corrective maintenance, safety inspections, hazard remediation, equipment relocation, decommissioning, and user training. The position requires strong technical skills, adherence to OEM and regulatory standards, and effective collaboration with clinical staff, vendors, engineers, and facility leadership. This role supports readiness for The Joint Commission and other regulatory inspections and requires strict documentation, safety, and performance standards. Responsibilities Technology Implementation & Installation • Provide site preparation support for new medical equipment, including space planning, coordination with architects, engineers, vendors, construction teams, and clinical departments., • Perform installation, assembly, and configuration of medical equipment and systems, including hardware, software, and connectivity testing., • Conduct incoming and acceptance inspections for new, rental, loaner, demo, or owned equipment prior to clinical use., • Establish equipment inventory records, assign maintenance schedules, and develop operations and maintenance (O&M) plans and SOPs., • Perform routine and scheduled planned maintenance in accordance with OEM specifications, VA policies, NFPA 99, and regulatory requirements., • Conduct:, • Performance verification, • Electrical safety inspections and testing, • Calibration verification, • Visual and mechanical inspections, • Cleaning, lubrication, adjustments, and part replacement, • Ensure all PM activities are completed by required deadlines (15th of the scheduled month when possible)., • Document all PM work accurately and submit required reports within designated timeframes., • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair medical equipment to restore safe clinical operation., • Perform hardware-focused repairs, including replacement of defective components and system restoration., • Conduct performance and electrical safety testing following repairs., • Meet targeted corrective maintenance turnaround times (average of 8 business days)., • Support hazard remediation and recall actions, including identification, investigation, reporting, and corrective coordination., • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, HFMEA activities, and required reporting (e.g., SMDA/MedWatch)., • Perform or support equipment relocation activities., • De-install and decommission medical devices, including:, • Data sanitization or destruction, • Maintenance history review, • Removal from inventory and maintenance schedules, • Provide clinical user training on medical equipment operation, operator-level maintenance, and safety., • Support medical application changes, including user access, configuration updates, patching, reboots, clock resets, and interoperability verification., • Assist with general education related to medical equipment management, safety practices, and new employee orientation., • Maintain accurate, timely documentation for all maintenance, inspections, installations, and repairs., • Perform only work for which proper training or OEM certification has been obtained., • Submit training certificates when required., • Adhere strictly to VA policies, OEM standards, and regulatory requirements. Qualifications: The Contractor personnel shall meet one of the following basic qualifications, regardless of role in the services provided under this contract: -Experience within a medical center and Biomedical Engineering department ( OR -Experience working in or with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) OR -Understanding of VISN, VA medical center, and Biomedical Engineering department operations Role-Specific Qualifications: In addition to the basic qualifications, the Contractor personnel shall meet the following role-specific qualifications based on the core functions and services each will be providing under this contract. a. Biomedical Technician / Equipment Support Specialist – General (Level II) -A two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training. -Demonstrated competency to perform operational verification procedures, planned maintenance, and repair service on various medical equipment. -Understanding of regulatory agencies’ requirements, industry regulatory requirements and International Standard Organization standards. -Familiarity with the setup and application of test equipment. -Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings. -Level II Experience - A minimum of three years of hospital or healthcare experience performing medical equipment maintenance. Preferred Skills: Technical Skills, PACS, RIS, DICOM, CISCO routers, switches, hubs, enterprise network using Ethernet, IBM/PC compatible computer and software including Windows 95, NT, 2000, 2003, 2008 servers, Vista, XP, Windows 7, 8, 10 Links, Lotus Notes, SQL, Oracle, MS Office Suite, Excel, Word, VMWare, Project Management.
