We’re partnering with a high-end, dinner-only steakhouse in Kansas City to identify a Chef de Cuisine who truly functions as an Executive Chef - a hands-on culinary leader with a passion for classic, scratch cooking and delivering exceptional guest experiences. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity, averaging 45 hours/week, with a salary range of $74,000–$100,000 (DOE). About the Role The Chef de Cuisine works closely with the Executive Chef to lead all daily kitchen operations while serving as the primary expeditor and visible culinary leader during service. This role is highly guest-facing, owning both expo and the dining room - setting the tone for service, engaging VIP guests, and collaborating closely with the FOH team to deliver a polished, memorable experience night after night. What You’ll Do • Lead all food preparation, presentation, and execution alongside the kitchen team, • Act as the primary expeditor, ensuring accuracy, timing, consistency, and quality, • Own the pass during service and maintain strong communication with the service team, • Maintain exceptional standards in flavor, plating, portioning, and presentation, • Oversee daily kitchen staffing, scheduling, and delegation, • Coach, develop, and hold BOH team members accountable, • Monitor food usage, pars, waste, and inventory rotation, • Requisition food and supplies based on business needs, • Ensure all kitchen, prep, and storage areas meet safety and sanitation standards, • Lead pre-shift walk-throughs and actively engage in the dining room during service, • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership What We’re Looking For • 5+ years of progressive culinary experience, • 3+ years in a culinary leadership role (Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Executive Chef, or similar), • Fine dining experience required (steakhouse strongly preferred), • Strong background in butchery and meat fabrication, • Deep food knowledge with a genuine passion for craftsmanship and classic cooking, • Confident, people-first leader who thrives on developing strong teams, • High standards for cleanliness, organization, and consistency, • Continuous improvement mindset - balancing classic cuisine with evolving standards, • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
