Job DescriptionDescription: Fincantieri Marine Systems North America has an immediate hiring need for a Quality Assurance Inspector for our Mayport location in Atlantic Beach, FL. This is a 1st shift role, Monday – Friday 7:00am – 4:00pm, with occasional 2nd shift and overtime as needed. This position is ideal for someone with experience in quality inspection and a foundational understanding of OSHA regulations, with the opportunity to develop further knowledge of EHS processes. Position Summary The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for hands-on inspection and corrective action, ensuring product quality complies in accordance with NAVSEA standards. This individual will also assist in the implementation and monitoring of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and procedures, ensuring high standards for quality and workplace well-being. Duties and Responsibilities • Inspections: Inspect mechanical, electrical, and structural components at various build/repair stages, along with materials received from suppliers, and verify calibration of inspection tools and equipment meets strict industry, regulatory, and client standards., • Quality Control: Identify defects and enforce quality standards to meet strict industry/regulatory requirements, ensuring all technical specifications, technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and quality standards are met for ship readiness and deployment, handling both fieldwork and reports., • Auditing: Drive quality assurance and safety excellence by enforcing ISO 9001:2015, NAVSEA, and regulatory compliance through internal and subcontractor audits and full CAPA lifecycle management. Mitigate risk by enforcing high EHS compliance through active surveillance and inspection of facility work activities., • Compliance: Verify adherence to NAVSEA, commercial marine standards, safety regulations, and contractual requirements from ship construction to repair., • Coordination & Documentation: Collaborate with production, engineering, and external stakeholders to resolve inspection and audit findings, documenting NCRs and CAPAs. Manage EHS records (SDS, PPE, training) and ensure strict compliance with site-specific safety policies and OSHA/EPA regulatory standards, supporting employee training in safety, hazardous materials, and emergency procedures. Requirements: • Must have ability to identify non-compliance with quality assurance, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions., • Must have ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment., • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documentation., • Working knowledge of QA/QC principles, EHS regulations, and inspection methodologies., • Knowledge of ISO 9001, OSHA standards, and NAVSEA or military specifications., • Knowledge of EHS and industrial safety in a manufacturing, marine, or defense environment., • Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills, including Excel., • Must have strong organizational, time-management, written, and verbal communication skills., • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor., • High School Diploma or GED required, technical certification or associate degree in quality, safety, or related field preferred., • 2+ years of experience in quality inspection required, with knowledge of mechanical systems on navy vessels with diesel engines preferred.
