Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION Controller – Government Contracting (Deltek Costpoint) Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid/Remote Optional) Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) POSITION SUMMARY The Controller is a senior financial leader responsible for overseeing all accounting operations within a government contracting environment. This role requires extensive hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint and a deep understanding of government contract accounting, including compliance with FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA/DCMA requirements. The Controller will ensure the integrity of financial reporting, maintain audit readiness, manage indirect rate structures, and serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership, contracts, and program management teams. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Accounting & Financial Operations • Direct all day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, billing, and project accounting., • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements., • Serve as the Deltek Costpoint system admin, overseeing configuration, maintenance, and optimization of the ERP system., • Manage Costpoint modules including Projects, General Ledger, Billing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Labor, and Fixed Assets., • Ensure accurate project setup, contract structures, CLINs, funding ceilings, billing terms, and revenue recognition., • Ensure full compliance with FAR, DFARS, and CAS across cost-reimbursable, time-and-materials, and fixed-price contracts., • Prepare and submit Incurred Cost Submissions (ICE) reports yearly., • Oversee government and commercial billing processes, including cost-plus, T&M, and fixed-price billings., • Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606., • Monitor project performance, funding limitations, burn rates, and contract profitability., • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team; establish performance expectations and professional development plans., • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field., • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience within a government contracting environment., • Extensive, hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint (advanced user or system administrator level)., • Strong working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA audit requirements., • Demonstrated experience preparing Incurred Cost Submissions and supporting DCAA/DCMA audits., • Experience with multi-entity or multi-contract organizations., • Prior experience supporting company growth, mergers, or system implementations., • Experience with Cognos, BI reporting tools, or Costpoint Analytics., • Deep expertise in government contract accounting and compliance, • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders, • Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves leadership style, • High integrity and commitment to accuracy and compliance Compensation Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience, expertise, education, and potential.
