Job DescriptionDescription: Job Objective/ Summary Pay: $33/hr. The responsibility of a Occupational Therapy Assistant is to assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that help build or restore vocational, homemaking, and daily living skills, as well as general independence, to persons with disabilities or developmental delays. Essential Functions • Plan, organize, and conduct occupational therapy programs in hospital, institutional, or community settings to help rehabilitate those impaired because of illness, injury or psychological or developmental problems., • Test and evaluate patients' physical and mental abilities and analyze medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients., • Select activities that will help individuals learn work and life-management skills within limits of their mental or physical capabilities., • Evaluate patients' progress and prepare reports that detail progress., • Complete and maintain necessary records., • Train caregivers how to provide for the needs of a patient during and after therapy., • Recommend changes in patients' work or living environments, consistent with their needs and capabilities., • Develop and participate in health promotion programs, group activities, or discussions to promote client health, facilitate social adjustment, alleviate stress, and prevent physical or mental disability., • Consult with rehabilitation team to select activity programs or coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities., • Plan and implement programs and social activities to help patients learn work or school skills and adjust to handicaps., • Adhere to The Estates at Carpenters’ policies and procedures, including those covering privacy and security in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and codes of conduct. Maintain confidentiality and respects resident’s privacy at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations., • Demonstrates the values of The Estates at Carpenters: integrity, stewardship, compassion, community, excellence, dignity, and service., • Attends and participates in orientation, training and educational activities as required., • Dresses appropriately, following appropriate dress and uniform policies and guidelines., • Must be able to maintain consistent attendance as per job requirements and policies., • Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Qualifications and Job Requirements/ Additional Knowledge, Skill & AbilitiesJob Education, Licenses/Certifications, Knowledge & Experience • Graduate/Completion of approved/accredited school of Therapy. Valid license as a Registered Occupational Therapy in the state of Florida., • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventative healthcare measures., • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing patient and personal services. This includes patient needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of patient satisfaction., • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar., • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders., • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects., • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective, local, state, or national security operations for the protections of people, data, property, and institutions., • Service Orientation – actively looking for ways to help people., • Active Listening – giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times., • Critical Thinking – using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems., • Problem Sensitivity – the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong., • Must successfully pass the mandated criminal background checks., • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen., • Must be able to pass the pre-employment reference checks., • Must be able to provide official grade transcripts of the education level provided on the employment application., • Must be able to provide a copy of his/her own social security card for W-4 documentation., • Must be able to provide applicable documentation(s) for I-9 in order to establish identity and authorization to work in the U.S., • Must have valid driver’s license, personal automobile liability insurance, and acceptable driving record (if required to drive). Physical Requirements and Working Conditions • While performing the duties of this position, a Occupational Therapist Assistant, is regularly required to stand, walk for extended periods of time, lift (may exceed 100lbs), carry (may exceed 30lbs), push and/or pull (may exceed 100lbs), bend, squat, twist, rotate, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
