Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Manager Reports to: Plant Manager Hours: 40 hours/week plus weekends and overtime as needed Location: Naperville, IL Pay: $68,000-$73,000 Position Summary Our client, a precision manufacturing facility, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee all maintenance activities across the plant. This role is responsible for managing maintenance personnel, coordinating maintenance operations, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of machinery, equipment, buildings, and grounds. The Maintenance Manager ensures that all activities align with company standards, industry best practices, and ISO9001 compliance. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management * Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Maintenance Technicians; assign daily tasks and ensure proper execution. * Determine schedules, work priorities, and task assignments based on workload, equipment status, and technician skills. * Monitor performance, productivity, and development; provide coaching and corrective guidance as needed. * Conduct or coordinate training on safety, repair techniques, equipment operation, and preventive maintenance. * Support hiring, performance reviews, promotions, disciplinary actions, and personnel decisions. * Address team questions and concerns professionally and promptly. Maintenance Operations * Oversee troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of machinery, equipment, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. * Manage new equipment installation and setup, including utilities, rigging, and final connections. * Ensure proper use of tools, lifts, cranes, metrology equipment, presses, and related maintenance resources. * Maintain reliable production uptime through preventive maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives. Facility & Grounds Management * Supervise repair and upkeep of building structures, shop areas, grounds, and facility systems (HVAC, plumbing, lighting, etc.). * Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment. Inventory, Documentation & Compliance * Track and maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and supplies. * Maintain maintenance records, preventive maintenance logs, downtime reports, safety reports, and inventory data. * Support ISO9001 documentation standards and audit readiness. Safety & Regulatory Oversight * Promote and enforce safe work practices and compliance with OSHA and company safety policies. * Identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions. * Train staff in safe equipment use, lockout/tagout procedures, and facility protocols. * Investigate maintenance-related incidents and document findings. Continuous Improvement & Planning * Develop, implement, and optimize maintenance policies, procedures, and workflows. * Identify opportunities to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance maintenance processes. * Assist in budget planning for maintenance operations, capital equipment, and facility upgrades. * Support implementation and optimization of CMMS or other maintenance software systems. Qualifications Education & Experience * Technical training in Machine Repair, Industrial Maintenance, or equivalent; journeyman-level preferred. * 5–7 years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience. * Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a maintenance environment. * Experience with CNC, industrial machinery, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems. * Knowledge of ISO9001 standards, preventive maintenance, and maintenance documentation. Technical Skills * Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams. * Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and industrial systems. * Competency in operating cranes, lifts, presses, grinders, welders, metrology tools, and related equipment. * Proficiency with inventory systems, maintenance software, spreadsheets, and word processing. Physical Requirements * Regularly stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands. * Lift 25–50 lbs regularly and occasionally more than 100 lbs with assistance. * Work safely in environments with moving machinery, temperature extremes, humidity, fumes, electrical exposure, and noise. Work Environment * Manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery, noise, and temperature variations. * Requires use of PPE and adherence to all safety procedures.
