Position Summary The Senior Accountant owns core accounting operations and supports the continued development of Brook’s finance function as the company scales. The role extends beyond execution of the close to include process improvement, support of new initiatives tied to company growth, and cross-functional partnership as business needs evolve. Ownership includes end-to-end accounting processes across payables, receivables, and payroll, along with key components of the month-end close. Strong execution discipline ensures accuracy, timeliness, and financial integrity across all workflows. The role also brings structure to accounting operations by evaluating existing workflows, reducing manual processes, and implementing scalable solutions, including automation and AI-enabled tools where appropriate. Success requires balancing hands-on execution with continuous improvement, building systems that scale with the business. Brook's hybrid model is in-office Monday-Thursday, remote Friday. Requirements: Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations & Close • Lead key components of the month-end close, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis, • Own end-to-end accounting processes across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial transactions and reporting, • Evaluate existing workflows to identify inefficiencies and areas of risk, • Reduce manual processes and implement scalable solutions across accounting operations, • Identify and implement automation opportunities, including AI-enabled tools, to improve accuracy and efficiency, • Maintain and strengthen internal controls across accounting processes, • Ensure alignment with company policies, audit standards, and regulatory requirements, • Support external audits and tax preparation, ensuring documentation and financial records are audit-ready, • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, People, and operational teams on payroll, benefits, and financial workflows, • Support technical accounting initiatives tied to new and evolving business operations, • Evaluate financial impacts of company growth initiatives and expansion activities, • Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting principles, including month-end close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis, • Proficiency in accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows, with a focus on accuracy and controls, • Understanding of payroll operations, including multi-state considerations, • Understanding of internal controls and audit requirements, with the ability to maintain and strengthen processes, • Ability to own and execute multiple accounting processes end-to-end, • Strong analytical rigor and problem-solving capability, • Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements, including automation and AI-enabled tools, • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities, • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, • Ability to operate independently and bring structure to evolving environments, • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality, • Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, including public accounting background, • Experience owning or leading components of the month-end close process, • Hands-on experience managing or overseeing payroll, with multi-state experience preferred, • Experience managing full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable, • Experience supporting or leading audit preparation, including documentation and process walkthroughs, • Experience with accounting and payroll systems such as QuickBooks, Ramp, Paylocity, or similar, • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements, automation, or system enhancements, • Fast-paced environment – Brook operates in two of the fastest changing industries in America – Healthcare and Technology.
