Job Description Associate Director of Student Financial Services The Associate Director of Student Financial Services- Compliance provides strategic leadership in interpreting and implementing federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations. The position primarily is responsible for providing compliance oversight of the Department of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs. This position ensures the university’s financial aid operations meet all compliance requirements across Title IV Federal Student Aid programs, state-funded aid, and institutional programs. This includes reviewing and updating departmental procedures to reflect current federal, state, and institutional regulations; reconciliation of grant, loan, scholarship, and military programs; training staff and updating on changes in federal, state, and institutional regulations and performing compliance audits as needed. In addition, this position represents the financial aid department at various recruitment events. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, collaborative skills, and a deep commitment to compliance, equity, and student success. Required: Bachelor’s degree in related field. Excellent computer skills, strong experience in either financial aid or student accounts; experience with integrated LMS and/or financial aid packaging systems; demonstrated supervisory and team building skills; strong analytical and problem-solving ability. Experience with Jenzabar and PowerFAIDS preferred. Bilingual a plus. • Under the direct supervision of the Director of Student Financial Services, the Associate Director will oversee all Student Financial Services daily operations and ensure compliance with all federal, state and institutional regulations and policies, including but not limited to Title IV, New York TAP and other sources of aid. Maintain knowledge of current federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, policies and procedures., • Coordinate with the Student Financial Service Rep for weekly disbursements of student funding., • Perform monthly reconciliation of Pell, SEOG, NYS TAP and Direct Loans., • Assist with resolving rejected Pell and Direct Loan records related to the disbursement of aid (i.e. multiple reporting, POP situations, etc.)., • Monitor enrollment changes; determines and facilitates aid adjustments as necessary., • Audit student files for accuracy and completeness for compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations., • Respond to the primary technical needs of the financial aid staff and provides support and training for a variety of programs utilized to administer student aid., • Coordinate the completion and compliance of Student Verification., • Institutional Research, Information Technology, the Division of Workforce Development, and Counseling., • Verify accuracy of data for the Net Price Calculator, Gainful Employment, and enrollment reporting to the COD and NSLDS., • Work collaboratively with Information Technology Services and third-party vendors to successfully implement and test Jenzabar and Powerfaids updates., • Prepare student aid awards and provide financial aid counseling to students and parents., • Make recommendations to the Director on ways to improve efficiency and service., • Oversee the Student Financial Services role in managing endowed and other scholarships in partnership with advancement, finance and other departments., • Regularly work with all related offices to coordinate data and process flows and periodically review internal controls to determine operation efficiencies., • Create and maintain policies and procedures as they relate to the department., • Interact with internal and external auditors and participate in auditing projects., • Participate in on-going review of software issues to identify and implement solutions., • Participate in the hiring process and train and instruct staff members on an on-going basis, • Participate in campus activities and presentations as needed.
