About the Opportunity As a Manager in Training with Vandelay Hospitality Group, you’ll step into a structured development experience designed to prepare you for long-term leadership within our restaurants. This role goes beyond learning day-to-day operations. It’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in our culture, understand the standards that define us, and develop the skills required to lead with confidence and clarity. Throughout the program, you’ll work alongside experienced leaders, gain exposure to both front- and back-of-house operations, and learn how to support excellence on every shift. You’ll be expected to model professionalism, accountability, and hospitality at the highest level while building the foundation to lead a high-performing team and deliver the elevated guest experience that sets Vandelay apart. Core Responsibilities • Partner closely with the General Manager and leadership team to learn how to lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team that embodies Vandelay’s culture and hospitality standards., • Participate in daily floor leadership, gaining confidence in managing service flow and supporting a consistently elevated guest experience., • Model warm, polished hospitality and observe how experienced leaders empower team members to create memorable guest moments., • Assist in responding to guest concerns with professionalism and a solutions-focused mindset, learning how to turn challenges into opportunities., • Support training, onboarding, and continuous development efforts to understand performance expectations and operational standards., • Gain exposure to scheduling, shift planning, and labor management processes, learning how to balance business needs with staffing efficiency., • Maintain an active floor presence during shifts, reinforcing service standards, pacing, execution, and team communication., • Learn how key financial metrics such as labor, inventory, COGS, and operational efficiencies impact overall restaurant performance., • Uphold food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards while developing a strong operational foundation., • Collaborate with culinary leadership to understand menu execution, product quality, and presentation standards., • Ensure adherence to company policies and all local, state, and federal regulations through observation and applied learning., • Assist with inventory management, purchasing procedures, and proper product storage and rotation practices., • Help maintain the physical and aesthetic standards of the restaurant, ensuring a polished and inviting environment., • Support pre-shift meetings and strengthen communication between front-of-house, back-of-house, and leadership teams., • Use guest feedback and real-time observations to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
