Job Description A Labor & Delivery Nurse Educator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering educational programs for nursing staff within the Labor & Delivery unit. This role supports clinical excellence, staff competency, patient safety, and evidence-based maternal/newborn care practices. The Nurse Educator serves as a mentor, trainer, and clinical resource for nurses, new hires, and interdisciplinary team members. • The expectation is that the candidate will provide coverage for all of inpatient MCH (L&D, NICU, MBU, Peds)., • Requires strong L&D skills with a minimum of 2 years of experience., • Masters in Education strongly preferred, • Will support education for labor and delivery, NICU, post partum. 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience is required Key Responsibilities • Develop and implement orientation and ongoing education programs for Labor & Delivery nursing staff., • Provide clinical instruction related to maternal-child nursing, fetal monitoring, obstetrical emergencies, postpartum care, and neonatal stabilization., • Assess staff competency and ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and evidence-based practices., • Coordinate and facilitate staff training, simulation exercises, skills labs, and continuing education sessions., • Mentor and support newly hired nurses, graduate nurses, and staff transitioning into Labor & Delivery., • Collaborate with nurse managers, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and staff performance., • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, policy development, and patient safety programs., • Evaluate educational program effectiveness and identify opportunities for clinical improvement., • Maintain current knowledge of obstetrical nursing standards, certifications, and healthcare regulations., • Serve as a clinical resource during high-risk deliveries and obstetrical emergencies when needed.
