POSITION SUMMARY The Benefits Analyst supports the administration, reconciliation, and compliance oversight of Atlanta Public Schools' health, wellness, voluntary, and supplemental retirement benefits programs. This role ensures the accuracy of benefit enrollments, payroll deductions, vendor billings, and regulatory reporting, including Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS CERTIFICATION: • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, • 3 years of experience in employee benefits administration, benefits reconciliation, payroll, or HR analytics, • Experience in a public-sector, K–12, or large, complex organization preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES • Strong knowledge of employee benefits administration, including health, wellness, voluntary, and supplemental retirement plans (403(b), 457(b)), • Demonstrated experience with benefits reconciliation, auditing, and discrepancy resolution, • Working knowledge of ACA compliance, reporting requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations, • Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., Infor/Lawson or similar) and advanced Excel skills, • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail, • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality ESSENTIAL DUTIES • Administers, monitors, and reviews reconciliation and auditing functions for all health, wellness, voluntary, and supplemental retirement benefit plans, including conducting and analyzing monthly reconciliations to ensure alignment between HRIS records, payroll deductions, and vendor invoices, • Identifies, investigates, and resolves billing discrepancies, missed deductions, overpayments, and enrollment variance, • Implements appropriate processes relative to the Affordable Care Act (ACA); monitors and evaluates ACA activities to ensure compliance with regulation, • Maintains reconciliation documentation, audit trails, trackers, and reports, • Assists in the development and dissemination of benefits communication to employees, • Interprets benefits and risk management policies and provides clarification to district employees, as necessary, • Supports New Employee Orientation, Onboarding, Open Enrollment, and Benefits Fairs, • Collaborates with internal departments, vendors, brokers, and external partners, • Requires having prompt, regular attendance in person and be available to work on-site during regular business hours and as needed, • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator or their representative PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND WORKING CONDITIONS The physical abilities, working conditions and other conditions of employment listed in this document are representative of, but are not intended to provide an exhaustive list of the requirements for positions in this classification. Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records.
