The Director of Data Management is a hands-on leadership role responsible for enterprise-wide data integration, quality, governance, and master data management (MDM). The role requires strong technical proficiency—writing SQL queries, developing proof-of-concept (POC) solutions, and leveraging AI tools to streamline data delivery and quality initiatives. This leader will work closely with Analytics, Data Engineering, and business stakeholders to define data requirements, deliver scalable data solutions, and ensure the reliability of operational data workflows. The ideal candidate brings strong working knowledge and exposure to healthcare data, including Medicare Health Plan Data, Accountable Care Data, Provider Data, and other Government Datasets such as those from CMS (e.g., encounters, eligibility, and risk adjustment data). This role reports to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and plays a key role in ensuring the organization's data is trustworthy, accessible, and aligned with business priorities. Key Responsibilities Data Governance & Strategy • Develop and lead enterprise data management strategies, including governance, MDM, metadata, and data quality programs., • Establish and enforce standards for data definitions, ownership, and stewardship across domains., • Work with Analytics and business stakeholders to gather and prioritize data requirements for reporting, analytics, and operational use., • Translate business needs into clear technical requirements and partner with Data Engineering for timely delivery., • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and strategic partners on data management practices, solutions, and strategies., • Present data capabilities, solutions, and findings to client stakeholders at various levels., • Collaborate with clients to understand their data needs and translate them into actionable requirements., • Write SQL queries to support data analysis, validation, profiling, and issue resolution., • Build or support the development of POCs to explore data integration, enrichment, or transformation approaches., • Leverage AI tools to support data mapping, de-duplication, anomaly detection, or workflow automation., • Oversee day-to-day reliability and performance of key data pipelines and systems., • Monitor and maintain data quality and availability, ensuring timely resolution of data-related incidents., • Ensure compliance with healthcare data privacy and security regulations (e.g., HIPAA)., • Promote adoption of data governance practices and build alignment across business and technical stakeholders., • Champion a culture of accountability, quality, and collaboration in data management practices., • 6+ years of experience in enterprise data management, including data governance, MDM, and data integration., • Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with healthcare datasets, including commercial payer data (Medical and Rx Claims, Eligibility), provider data (FHIR, HL7, CCDA), and public data such as CMS Claims, Encounters, MMR, Enrollment, to name a few., • Proficient in SQL and data validation techniques; comfortable working directly with large, complex datasets., • Experience using Analytics platforms such as Tableau, Quicksight, Looker, or equivalent., • Experience building or working with AI-augmented data tools is a plus., • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory requirements (HIPAA, CMS rules) and data privacy standards.
