SUMMARY As a Project Controls / Scheduler, this position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules and cost control systems for marine, heavy civil, and/or railroad construction projects. This role provides accurate forecasting, performance tracking, and data-driven insights to ensure project execution aligns with contractual milestones, budget targets, and operational objectives. The Project Controls/Scheduler works closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and field leadership to proactively identify risks, mitigate delays, and support successful project delivery through disciplined planning, reporting, and controls. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Develop, implement, and maintain detailed baseline and updated project schedules from project awards through closeout for marine, heavy civil, and railroad construction projects., • Establish and manage project control systems to track schedule performance, cost trends, productivity, manpower, and equipment utilization., • Collaborate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Superintendents, and Project Engineers to define work breakdown structures (WBS), sequencing, and resource-loading aligned with project scope and contractual milestones., • Monitor critical path activities, perform regular schedule and constructability reviews, and identify risks, delays, sequencing conflicts, or resource constraints. Track and document changes and impacts, and develop recovery plans and mitigation strategies to maintain project progress., • Prepare and distribute regular project performance reports, including schedule updates, earned value analysis, cost-to-complete forecasts, and variance explanations for internal and external stakeholders., • Support development and review of project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections in coordination with project and finance teams., • Ensure schedule and cost control processes comply with contractual requirements, company standards, and client reporting expectations., • Support bid and preconstruction efforts by developing conceptual and detailed schedules, manpower curves, and production assumptions., • Maintain historical project data and lessons learned to improve forecasting accuracy and future project planning., • Perform other related duties as assigned to support project execution, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Education: Bachelor's in construction management, Engineering, Business, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or be willing/eligible to obtain one upon hire. Valid Driver’s License., • Experience: Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in project controls, scheduling, or project engineering for marine, heavy civil, and/or railroad construction projects., • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA): Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical and organizational skills, proficiency in CPM scheduling and cost tracking, and ability to collaborate with project teams in deadline-driven environments. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Certification(s): Adult First Aid w/ CPR and AED. OSHA-30. Project Management Professional (PMP)., • Experience: Seven (7) years of experience with on-site project controls and scheduling in marine, heavy civil, and/or railroad construction operations., • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA): Proficient in Primavera P6, Vista Viewpoint, HCSS Heavy Bid, and advanced excel and dashboard reporting. Thorough knowledge and skills in marine construction operations, such as welding, pile driving, crane operations, barge operations, etc. WORKING CONDITIONS • The individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation., • The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes a hard hat, safety glasses, a life vest, respirators, earplugs, steel-toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFD), and/or other protective equipment., • The individual frequently works near moving mechanical parts and must be able to adapt to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration., • The individual may be required to work long hours and/or weekends. Additionally, some out-of-town or overnight travel may be required., • The individual may occasionally be required to sit in a vehicle for up to 8 hours., • The individual may be required to walk, step, climb, or otherwise move from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters., • The individual may occasionally be required to stand, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, or sit for long periods., • The individual may be required to lift objects with a minimum of 10 lbs. and a maximum single-person lift of 50 lbs. This could result in frequent lifting or carrying, depending on project needs.
