A Day in the Life of the Broadband Network Technician I: An HFC (Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial) Plant Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, and repairs the outside cable plant—fiber optics, coax cables, nodes, and amplifiers—to ensure reliable broadband and video services. They troubleshoot RF signal issues, manage power supplies, and conduct preventative maintenance, often working aloft in bucket trucks. The Manager of Central Sterile Supply coordinates and monitors all sterile processing functions such as decontamination, preparation/packaging, sterilization of surgical instruments, ordering supplies, storage of materials, medical supplies usage and storage and inventory control. Responsible for first line supervision of all Central Sterile activities, staff scheduling, shift management and the coordination of surgical instruments and supplies to the operating rooms. Duties include: demonstrating skill in application of decontamination, preparation and sterilization technique. Utilizes recommended standards to identify areas of improvement in all phases of the process. Ability to perform every task in the decontamination, preparation and sterilization areas. Demonstrates high standard of management, people and team skills, including the ability to lead a team to achieve quality outcomes within time budgets and timeframes. Demonstrates ability and willingness to motivate, mentor staff and develop good working relationships with customers and team members. Demonstrates skill and understands the operating room case schedule and is able to adjust staffing and tasks according to caseload. Independently is able to prioritize the workload accordingly. Establish and implement methods and best practices related to the systems and process that support inventory forecasting, purchasing, and material control. Ensures goods and services are ordered in a timely manner by processing requisitions, confirming price and shipping terms, delivery date and order. Establishes par levels for all supplies and requisitions inventory through the CS purchasing information system. Communicates daily with surgical staff, scheduler, surgery management, vendors, and physicians to ensure availability of supplies for scheduled cases. Participates in physical inventory count according to best practice. Other related duties as required. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience required., • Certified Central Sterile Technician by IAHCSMM or CBSPD required., • Completion of formal supervision principles, leadership education and/or the Certification in Healthcare Leadership (CHL) concepts preferred., • Minimum of 5+ years of direct Central Sterile managerial experience in sterile processing/supply chain logistics/surgical environment., • Must have extensive knowledge of aseptic technique, sterilization processes, regulatory agency guidelines, and technical knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterilization equipment and supplies., • Broad based and extensive technical knowledge of surgical instrumentation and OR case cart processing and extensive technical knowledge of computer instrumentation tracking, surgical scheduling and inventory control., • Working knowledge of AORN standards, OSHA guidelines, and in depth knowledge of TJC, IAHCSMM, and AAMI Standards is required., • Ability to compile statistics, research and analyze information, and use computerized spreadsheets to conduct analyses and generate reports., • Ability to leverage metrics and other tools to drive supplier performance., • Knowledge of materials management and inventory control functions., • Must hold comprehensive knowledge and experience in surgical instrumentation, OR case schedule, Case Carts and extensive technical knowledge of computer instrumentation tracking., • Must work well under pressure, being able to prioritize multiple tasks and/or requests for service. Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: • Performs maintenance tasks personally and/or delegates to assistants. Oversees and occasionally inspects work performed by others., • Institutes and manages system for handling resident work order requests., • Investigate complaints, disturbances and violations and resolve problems following management rules and regulations., • Diagnoses and performs on a daily basis minor and routine maintenance/repair., • Make repairs in tenant's apartments, the building common areas, the garage and the building exterior., • Maintain clean, properly illuminated, and well painted hallways, stairwells and public areas of the building., • Maintain the exterior appearance of the building, the sidewalks and grounds at all times., • Remove snow and ice, as needed., • Maintain an adequate inventory supply of necessary materials and equipment. Keep a record of what is in stock. Order supplies and tend to repairs., • Maintains accurate records regarding preventative maintenance, service requests (received and completed), expenditures, apartment make-ready status, work-in-progress, etc., • Maintains adequate inventory of spare parts and maintenance materials to handle most common repairs and situations., • Monitor and report temperatures during appropriate seasons., • Perform and document (log) all required inspections and testing for Sprinkler/Standpipe fire suppression system., • Prepare vacant apartments for new occupancy. When you receive possession of an apartment, perform a move-out inspection., • Work closely with the property management team to maintain and operate the property and grounds at a level that meets the company’s objectives and satisfies tenants so they are inclined to continue as tenants. As part of benefits, an apartment unit is provided to the Superintendent., • Perform assigned work orders and record information in software systems, • Make repairs in tenant's apartments, the building's common areas, and exterior (including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering and drywall). Replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, light fixtures ballasts., • Replace and repair inoperable appliances, • Unclog drains, repair and replace plumbing fixtures., • Minor masonry repairs., • Open and close the laundry room, and other building rooms and spaces., • Investigate complaints, disturbances and violations and resolve problems following management rules and regulations, • Oversee contractors and repairmen working in the building., • Maintain clean, properly illuminated, and well painted hallways, stairwells and public areas of the building, • Remove snow and ice, as needed, • Maintain an adequate inventory supply of necessary materials and equipment. Keep a record of what is in stock. Order supplies and tend to repairs, • Maintain accurate records regarding preventative maintenance, service requests (received and completed), expenditures, apartment make-ready status, work-in-progress, etc, • Monitor and report temperatures during appropriate seasons, • Perform and document (log) all required inspections and testing for Sprinkler/Standpipe fire suppression system; perform basic boiler maintenance, • Prepare vacant apartments for new occupancy and perform move-out inspections, • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), • Three (3) years of experience as Building Superintendent or Maintenance Technician; previous supervisor experience preferred, • Customer service skills, • Excellent organization skills, • Able to multi-task, • Able to work in a team environment, • Able to read and interpret documents such as procedures, work instructions, manuals, • Able to write routine reports, inspections, work orders, incident reports and letters, • Able to operate equipment, machinery and tools (wrenches, hammer, broom, snips, hand trucks, step ladders, blowers, shovels, etc…), • Constantly required to be on feet/standing, • Frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls., • Frequently required to walk; sit; balance; crouch; push and pull objects; bend; and reach with hands and arms. Climb ladders and stairs.
