Job DescriptionJob Title: Controller Job Description The Controller leads all day-to-day accounting and financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and effective support for strategic decision-making in a precision manufacturing environment. This role oversees core accounting functions, drives budgeting and forecasting processes, and partners closely with operations and leadership to improve financial visibility, cost efficiency, and overall business performance. The Controller also builds and develops a high-performing accounting team while continuously enhancing financial processes and systems. Responsibilities • Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and month-end close activities., • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policies., • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes to support organizational goals., • Lead cost accounting activities, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation., • Partner with operations and manufacturing leadership to analyze production costs, margins, and efficiency metrics., • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure compliance with financial policies and regulatory requirements., • Prepare financial statements, management reports, balance sheets, and KPI dashboards for leadership review., • Support internal and external audits, tax filings, and external financial reviews., • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve accuracy, and enhance financial visibility., • Develop and maintain financial models and reporting tools to support analysis and decision-making., • Provide clear financial guidance and insights to leadership to support strategic planning and business growth., • Oversee, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement., • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between financial objectives and operational performance.Essential Skills, • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field., • 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment., • Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory management., • Hands-on experience with general ledger management, reconciliations, and month-end close., • Proficiency in financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements and management reports., • Experience managing budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes., • Demonstrated experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll operations., • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with financial models and reporting tools., • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills., • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders., • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff., • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred., • Experience in a precision manufacturing environment is a plus., • Experience with ERP systems; Epicor experience is a plus., • Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise financial systems is beneficial., • Experience with cost analysis, variance analysis, and margin analysis in a manufacturing setting., • Ability to design and maintain KPI dashboards and management reporting tools., • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices., • Comfort working in a stable, growth-oriented organization with long-standing customer relationships., • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with operations and leadership.Work Environment This is an in-office role, Monday through Friday, in a precision manufacturing environment. The Controller works closely with operations, manufacturing, and leadership teams, using ERP systems (with Epicor experience valued) and advanced Excel-based tools to manage and analyze financial data. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $57.71/hr.
